Hi Laurie!

I just back on the board before going to bed. Who's the favourite

author......or should it be obvious to me?!

I'd love to exchange info about our respective educational systems.

Please e-mail me with any questions you may have.

We have a partial inspection next week and the following week we

have Presentation Evening, our school's name for prize-giving or

speech night. (We always have a guest speaker for this. In 1995 we

had Cherie Blair, our prime minister's wife! It was just before the

Labour Govt won the election so he wasn't prime minister yet!

Cherie went to our school as a girl and was willing to come back as

guest speaker. Just a bit of name-dropping!!!) This year we have

someone who is quite well known in local radio. She is also an ex-

pupil.

Anyway!..I'll be busy!

After that it should be easier and I expect the head to be back by

mid-Feb.

We will find out about Jim's prostate cancer (extent, spread,

treatments etc.) next Tuesday.

I'm actually enjoying the job....I won't if something awful happens!

Hopefully things will be reasonably calm. It's amazing how something

new work-wise can give one a lift. I'm also back on a lactose-free

and almost gluten-free diet just now. That might be helping me to

feel well. I'm not staying 100% gluten-free in case the gastro wants

to do more tests; you have to have been on a " normal " diet for about

6 months. I need to add a couple of months as I only went on a

regular gluten-containing diet in September 2004.

Well, I'll await your e-mails and look forward to answering

questions! I've exchanged odd bits of info with Cecilia in the past

as she was also, until very recently, a deputy head principal.
