Guest guest
Chrissy, I am taking 18 units of Lantus every evening and 1 unit of Humalog for every 15 carbs I eat. I usually take about 3-5 units per meal. I started out at 15 units of Lantus but I ended up increasing it because my blood sugars were getting above normal for a while. This week is the best I have been able to keep them steady. Right around 95-110. Last week I was at 175-190. I have been as high as 293! I would think that you would still have to take your Lantus but not your Novalog. Dr. Sutherland told me that if my islet cells did really kick in I would only have to take Lantus once a day. Well that hasn't happened a I'm sure it won't. It would have happened by now. You seem right on track with everything so far. Everything that I went through you seem to be going through the same also. I am not back to the same old self but getting closer each week. I do use my computer to keep track of my insulin records. I am using the One Touch UltraSmart meter. I pruchased a cable and download my records to my computer. It works really well. There is lots of charts and graphs to see how you are doing. I take copies to my endocrinologist when I see him. They told me my records were the most completely filled out ones they ever saw! My meter logs everthing so I don't have to write it down. I have the One Touch Ultra but like the UltraSmart better. I also have a BD meter that they sent me for free with 100 test strips and lancets. I'll post the website link later so you can get a free one also. I can't seem to find it right now. My son just turned 5 on Wednesday. He really keeps me busy! He is so much fun. I work at a Ford Dealer as an Assistant Parts Manager. I sit at a desk behind the computer and phone most of the day. This is what I am doing now! I have access to the internet and my e-mail right at my desk.Take care and keep in touch! Darren
