Hi ,

Maybe you could try to go back to liquids, soups, yogart & such to

get you weight going down again. Honestly I know we are all

different but at 4 weeks I don't know how you can even eat 750/1000

calories a day. I am 5 Months post-op now and most days can't eat

near that much. In the old patient manuel Dr. R. states the longer

you stay on liquids and light foods the better your weight loss will

be. I really think maybe fast foods are bad choses(SP?) at 4 weeks.

Please don't misunderstand what I'm saying!! I am certainly no

expert!! But it is a crock to say listen to your tummy!! The best

thing to listen to is the Dr. I see a lot of postings where people

encourage others to eat anything they want to.(Just listen to their

tummies)BULL!! Trust me fast foods no matter how little is not good

for anyone!! I use it in moderation!! Fast food is what got me

where I was 5 months ago!!304 pounds worth!! Can you have fast food

at WW? I think anything you can get support from is good!! Lord

knows we all need that!! I hope something I said may help you or

others. I see many posting now with " slow weight loss " and I think

some (NOT ALL) may be from trying to go back to regular foods too

quick!! Before some go off the deep end this is my opinion!! And as

you know we all have one!! Good Luck and hope you start losing

again real soon!! Marie >>

Hi Marie,

Your post just really struck a nerve with me. A good nerve that is!! I know

that I, for one, usually will not post but I feel the same way. Sometimes

listening to your tummy can be beneficial of course...(i.e. I'm full,

nauseated, etc.) But just because the food sits well does not mean it's the

best for you.

I see so many post early on stating that liquids were tolerated well and they

are moving on to other solids, trying sweets etc. before the 14 days are even

up!!

I really want to say " wake up, what are you doing? " This is YOUR chance, the

time has come after so much preparation and going through major surgery.

Please make the best of it!! Please listen to Dr. R and try to stick to the

steps he has outlined!!

This will probably be your LAST chance to totally alter those old habits and

start a new, exciting, refreshing life and healthier way of eating!! We have

heard so many times that surgery is just a tool...you have to work with it!!

You can not imagine how repetition becomes a way of life and it will be the

same way after surgery.

I sincerely hope no one thinks I'm preaching...I really am trying to help..

take for instance---I have not eaten candy in almost a year. Two weeks ago I

tried a candy bar at work and of course it stayed down fine (everything else

has) All the sudden, I have had candy everyday for the last two weeks at

work. That habit will be broken TODAY!!.. I am only 2 pounds away from my

original goal (I have moved it down 10 pounds) and I don't know why I feel

I'm suddenly trying to defeat myself. And guess what? I never ate sweets

before surgery!! It's something about knowing that I can have it....I must

say I personally believe everything is good in moderation but early on (at

least 6 months) I'd like to encourage you all to make the very most of the

situation. Habit is reality! I lost almost 100 pounds the first 6 months and

only 20 something the last 5 1/2, but I did promise myself to totally adhere

to change for 6 months. I relaxed it quite a bit after that. I am in no way

saying that slow weight loss in some is totally defined by eating wrong

foods. Our metabolisms are so different and the ironic thing is that some can

eat everything and still lose and others are very careful and lose slowly. I

only know of 1 person that stuck to liquids for 2 months...she called me last

night and has lost 98 pounds and her surgery was July10,00. She started

around 325 and that's not even 4 months yet!! She spent her third month on

soft foods and can eat anything this last month. No, I couldn't hang with

that either....but I still continue to have my morning protein shake and my

almost daily salad for lunch at almost a year out. I eat anything I want for

dinner and wasn't snacking in between until a couple weeks ago.....sigh. But

we all backslide and we gotta get up and ride again!!

We will ALL lose!!! Almost guaranteed. But in my own humble opinion I do

honestly believe that how much you lose in the end and whether you reach your

goal will largely depend upon how willing we all are to change our old

habits. I am painfully aware that some will not reach that goal no matter if

they ate salads the rest of their lives......their bodies hold on to all and

are way to efficient.....and that may mean a revision down the road. I really

DO feel for you all.

But, aren't you happier just knowing that someday the healthier eating will

add years to your life, make you FEEL wonderful and possibly keep you from

many diseases?

Ok, off my soapbox!!

Go for it!!!
