Need Help with this Disease and choices,

Hello Everyone,

I haven't been able to post for a while because I was in the

Hospital and just got out and I thought I would check out the

messages and ask a question. First of all now that im out and

everything is going back to the same but worse. At least while I was

there my GI doc finally I caved in and did the ERCP mind you I didnt

want to do one because of the many many incidents that have happend.

My last ERCP was done about 3 years ago and it wasn't pretty. I was

fighting with the Docs and Nurses while I was under. So this time

while they were bringing me to the GI suite I was already nervous and

I saw my Doctor which im lucky is the Attending of the GI part and he

saw me and knew that I was nervous. Oh for pain control I was on 100

demerol and 50 Visterol q 2.5 hours but it wasnt touching me honestly

because I was there in the hospital about 7 days on the same thing

and I am on stronger stuff at home mind you at first the first 3 days

it was great but then it was just like saline to me. So I told my

doctor that I would only do the proceedure if they put me on a PCA

and he said ok no problem. Well the fun started with the Anestesia

guy MY doc explained to him that I am a fighter and the doc said oh

we should be fine, When i got on the table my heart rate shot up to

148 and my breaths were 30s they said I need to relax I said I cant

thats when they started with the Versed and apam and then they

went general on me and I woke up in the recovery room in pain pain

pain and the doc knew that they gave me 100 of Demerol IV and that

did nothing to me and I went back to my room. It was about 3pm then

and they demerol took the edge off but not good. My wife came at

530pm and was with me and then the pain started and it hurt bad and

my doc came to see me and said we ordered a Fentanyl PCA I said

great. I waited and waited I begged my nurse to get it she said I

handed it to them and at this point I was crying a Man crying in pain

well the Nurse felt bad and asked the doc if I could get soemthing

and they gave me 50 of Demerol through the pump which wasnt good well

anyways my nurse left at 7pm and the next nurse came on and said

there is nothing I can do you have to wait and I waited and cried my

tears until it came up at 9pm and when it was finally in and working

all the pain went away and Giovanni was a happy camper and didn't

need the nurse anymore, I had a basal rate 24 hrs constant with a

push rate i was doing well. Well the next day one of the Fellows for

the GI came to see me and oh he knew my prior GI doc well and now he

knows my GI doc so this is good I thought, He asked me to turn off

the TV because he needed to talk with me and they never asked me that

before just talked with me and left. He said I was there when they

did the ERCP and I asked him what did you think he said there is no

doubt that you have CP and the Ducts have major damage to them. OH by

the way this is the MD that always made faces at me when i said i

have CP like yeah ok whatever its just stomach problems.But he said i

saw it first hand and yes you really do have it and I asked him what

stage is it and he said your at stage 3 and growing. He also said

that I have to be very careful because I am very prone to ending up

with Pancreatic Cancer that wasnt a good one I thought (all the

doctors that said I didnt have it and was just drug seeking only if

they could see this now). I said that to him and he said well they

dont know but your not drug seeking. I asked him what is next and

they said well there isnt much but there is Surgery, I asked him what

it was and he said he will recomend me to a great pancreatic surgeon.

I asked him what is it like the surgery and he explained it to me a

little bit.

He said its when they go in and take the Pancreas out of the stomach

and fillet it and put it back in the stomach, That is all I know

right now. I asked him if it was serious and he said yes it is, I

want to know does anyone know about this surgery? Has anyone had this

surgery or know anyone that has had it or know anything about it or

anything? What are the risks and bennifets to it? I really want to

know what its all about and everything about it before I go into it.

My problem is if its not good I am concerned about my wife and new

baby child and are they ready for this and not to have daddy or

husband.

Anyways if anyone can help me out with this it would be great. So

needless to say it wasnt a great talk with the Doctor and wasnt

expecting to hear that.

Anyways thats all I can write right now my belly is acting up and its

hurting but if anyone can help please do so.
