Guest guest
Hi All, I wanted to update everyone on how I have been doing. Was put in the hospital a week and a half ago for 5 days. I had a hard time even sucking hard candy without getting severe pain. Finally, the day I was put in the hospital, I felt like I was going to collapse. My blood pressure by the time I was admitted was 215/107. I don't normally have high BP. I still believe it is all of the stress that body was in. Friends and family said I looked pretty pale. Guess so, didn't hardly eat or drink for 3 weeks. I am on TPN. The docs are hoping to settle the pancreas down with the TPN. Has anyone had any such luck in calming it down with TPN? My GI doctor does not know why this flare has lasted so long. Typically, I have pain and nausea most days with a few days break in between, but this past 3 week period was more painful and lasted the longest I have had a flare. My guess and the doctor's after consulting with the pancreatic specialist is another ERCP to take a look if this doesn't work. I also had a CATSCAN to look for psuedocysts. I didn't have any. The report came back " The pancreas appears atrophic due to chronic pancreatitis without evidence of calcifications or pseudocyst " . Atrophic means that the pancreas has shrunk, right? So, I guess it is a good thing that the CT showed no evidence of pseudocyst or calcification, right? Also, wanted to thank everyone for their support. All the best to each of you, Pat
