Guest guest
, Fliss, others - Thanks for the information regarding whether a TP can be done after the whipple. I did ask my surgeon at IU Med Ctr, and he told me yes also. If down the road my CP came back with a vengance, I could have the TP. He also said that his doctor friends that are doing it are in Cinci and would recommend going there for the TP, BUT he said by the time I would need the TP, they would probably be doing it at the IU Med Ctr. Great news. He also told me that I would not loose my spleen nor any part of my stomach. I am thrilled to hear that. I guess it has to do how all the organs " fit " and are " attached " together as to whether one has to have additional organs removed. It sounds like I have the best case scenario for the whipple, especially since I do not suffer from any other diseases/illnesses. Poncho is my hero for telling me he went 13 years asymptomatic after his whipple. That would put me at retirement age (since I just turned 50 August 5th - very traumatic!) I would feel more " ready " to be disabled than now. I stayed home and raised my family and am just now climbing up the ladder in my career and hope to continue in school administration. I hope to have a surgery date next week, so I'll post it when I know it. Cecilia Mesa, AZ
