Squash help! So when is it ripe enough?

Acorn or pepper squash...does it need to be as orange as other

squashes like butternut squash to be ripe. I just cut into a acorn

sqash tonight and it was pretty yellowish...I suppose it is not ripe

enough?

I have another acorn squash that looks the same...will it ever ripen?

What is the best bet squash to buy now...that will be ripe or will

ripen soon?
