Guest guest
- once she realizes that the shot will be there whether she cries or not, she will stop crying. Promise. Meanwhile, Dr. Harbison suggested to us when we were starting to do a reward chart. loved books so we did paperback books. Basically one book for 10 stars. If she cried and fussed, she got one star. But if she stayed still and didn't cry or fuss, she got TWO stars. Dr. H said it's important to still reward her for taking the shot, even if she cries. 10 stars (5 days) gets her a paperback book. We would go to the used bookstore where books were only about $1, but didn't care. The injectease. I have found with that the best thing is to press firmly against the skin with the injectease -- the pressure of the " pen " pushing against the skin distracts the skin from feeling the needle. Do NOT use an alcohol wipe!!!! Also, you can pinch up the skin if you want -- I usually do not. Lastly, you can tell Laikyn that she has an option. Taking the shot is NOT an option, but how and where she takes it is her choice. Each day she can change her mind. She could take the shot in her bottom (which to be honest is the place that hurts the least). She could also have the shot when she is asleep. She may stir a little bit but not much, hopefully. All may be worth trying with her. IF Laikyn was diabetic, you would still be giving her the same shot - - different med of course, but same size needle, but you would have to do this 4-6 times a day!!!! Keep that in mind, and pat yourself on the back. Promise -- within a week or two, you will do this in your sleep.... Keep us updated, OK? > > We are in need of help with injecting Laikyns shots! > > --We can't remember what Dr.H said about the inject ease.
