CHAT:s appt. & my dad

hi all!!!

i wasnt sure if i needed to write chat so i just did. first,

christopher's appt went well today at shriners (after the traffic

back up on 95 from an accident!! we were luckly only 15min. late)

they made him an insert for his left shoe, his leg is still 1cm

shorter than the right (so there has been no change there). they

will keep an eye on it and said that when he is 14yrs we will

discuss whether to do something to the growth plate in his right leg

to slow the growth in that one so his left leg may catch up some,

making the difference less. they also did a spinal x-ray and he

does have some slight scoliosis starting (the curve is only 8

degrees, but scoliosis) they dont believe it is from the leg length

discrepency because it is curving to the right and not to the left.

we have to go back in 4 months and they will do another xray in the

same position (this one was lying down or they may switch altogether

to a sitting x-ray) they will keep and eye on it. if it begins to

become more of a curve they will then look into putting him into a

brace at a young age to hlpe prevent it from getting real bad (it

runs in my mom's side of the family, she has it as well besides it

being a RSS characteristic). so thats where we are with that. i

will share all of that with dr h next wed. at our appt.

now my dad, thanks for all your emails, phone calls, thoughts and

prayers. sorry if i dont respond to each one. he had 2 more

seizures last night and then 2 more this morning that were

significate. he has also had several small ones throught the day.

he has now needed to have a cath. put in since he has lost all

control of his bladder. they have him sedated somewhat because he

can feel when they are coming on and stays somewhat alert through

out it (this of course makes him very upset so they are trying to

keep him calm) i was going to go to the hospital after i got home

from shriners but he is sleeping because of the sedation and doesnt

know you are there right now (my brother was there and told my mom

this when she called the ICU nurses station for an update) they are

taking him for an MRI of his whole body (not sure why at this point,

may be checking to see if his prostate cancer has spread, my mom was

told that could also be causing the seizures if it spread to his

brain) so that is where we are at right now. i will be going to

the hospital tomorrow with my mom after christopher's class trip, i

was going to go tonight after we held soccer practice (terry & I are

the coaches) but i dont have anyone to stay with the kids and i

wanted terry to come so i didnt have to go by myself. like i said

he is sedated anyway so it is probably better that i wait.
