Guest guest
Jodi, If is tolerating the j tube feeds, he should be okay. Even if he is spitting up a lot and gagging, his blood sugar should stabilize and he should not spill ketones. You are not putting that Miralax down the j tube are you? That is only supposed to go in the g tube. Only formula goes in the j tube. If starts spitting up so much that he is spilling ketones, that is another story. Then you have to take him in. But tolerating the j tube feeds should be sufficient. Jodi Z
Guest guest
Jodi - I'm not an expert yes (I'm getting there <grin> - but, I will say - I would check his blood sugars though and his ketones. Only because I'm thinking that if he isn't getting the nutrients he normally does - his body will obviously do things " differently " . Call me if you need to chat. - H > > Hey all you experts out there. Jodi Z. this may be for you. I think > this may be a really dumb question, but is terribly sick right > now. Guest guest
Thanks, Jodi. I knew you would know. I figured he was okay, but I wanted to be sure. I don't want to put him in any harm at all. And no, I don't put any meds at all in 's j tube. I use the G port for all meds. But, thanks for checking. That could have been ugly. I learned that long ago! But, it is great to reiterate it here, as someone may not be aware of that. Thanks for the reassurance, Jodi R. > > Jodi, > > If is tolerating the j tube feeds, he should be okay. Guest guest
Jodi, I understand your concern and your fears. Even with Max at 17 I still get scared and make him check his ketones when he is not eating. I just hope that the nasty stomach bug that is running in my school does not find its way to his school. My school is 16 miles away, but stomach viruses travel at a great speed. We have enough to deal with with these ongoing hiccups. Funny how they go away on Fridays.... I think school phobia has set in. Now how do we fight that one? I'm stumped. Jodi Z
