Hi Ruth,

Have you read " Breaking the Vicious Cycle " ? It may give you a broader

perspective on celiac. I don't have my BTVC with me, as I've loaned it to a

friend, but essentially, celiac disease was classified differently up to some

fairly recent point in time as a disaccharide intolerance, and then it got

changed to a gluten allergy. I think this helps explain a lot of the

non-responsiveness one finds on the celiac blogs to the GF diet. If GF isn't

working, I'd highly suggest giving SCD a chance to see if it works. My regular

d cleared up within weeks of starting SCD, although it's been a long road for me

overall.

And I don't mean to sound cynical but don't trust everything your doctor says.

If I had listened to any of my doctors, and there have been a lot, I'd still be

sick. I, too, had no lactobacillus, an overgrowth of bifidus, and the high

overgrowths of klebsiella, strep a and b, citerobacter, enterobacter, and a few

other nasties, and all the conventional medical docs I visited could only say

was that these are naturally occuring bacteria in the human body. No amount of

arguing could get them to do anything to treat me. In retrospect, I'm glad,

because I managed to take charge of my health, primarily by using SCD.

Good luck.

the meantime my gut flora results came back and the only " good " bacteria they

found were E coli. There was no growth of Lactobacillus or bifidobacteria.

Does this suggest that the SCD would be a good thing for me to do? Is it that

" bad " bugs are overriding the good ones? What questions and test should I be

talking to my doctor about?
