Hey all you experts out there. Jodi Z. this may be for you. I think

this may be a really dumb question, but is terribly sick right

now. Mind you, it hasn't gotten to the point where I can't feed him

(he is J tube fed), but I still worry about his blood sugar.

has been gagging and spitting up so much the last few days, and he

has so much gas. Obviously, if he was simply on a G tube, he

wouldn't be tolerating his feeds right now. But, even still, I worry

about his blood sugar since he is sick. Should I be worried? I

mean, he is still getting the same he always gets, but he does get

breaks during the day. I also wonder if I should cut back on the

length of those breaks. Is it true that when they are sick their

blood sugar tends to drop quicker? For some reason I am thinking I

have heard this. I have taken him to his Pediatrician's office today

and even called his Pulmonary doctor. They have given me things to

help him manage the coughing and respiratory issues, but I worry

about his blood sugar and dehydration. Will he dehydrate quicker,

too, even though he is getting what he normally gets? Also, he seems

to be having constipation issues. Whenever I give him Miralax, it

makes him have little tiny poops constantly. And this continues and

gets so bad where his bottom gets really red and cracks which is

painful to him. Pat, didn't you have a suggestion on how to give the

Miralax?

Anyway, I feel like I should know all this by now, but I think I just

over-think things and get so worried when he is sick. I just

wondered if I should be doing something for his sugar.

Thanks all, for your help,

Jodi R.

, one sick little guy. :o(
