Does Ian have a g-tube??

Just wondering, my son has been having more trouble lately and I can

put more protien through the tube, when I can't get him to eat it.

What is Nutren?

I'm pretty new to this sugar stuff-It seems to be so " minute to minute "

Hope everytthing gets better for all of you! take care!

Well, when Ian got home from the hospital - he was literally eating

like a Piggy. It was so awesome - he was definately trying to make

up for lost time. He ate an ENTIRE Grilled cheese sandwich for

lunch the other day. And these are big sandwiches with lots of

cheese! Anyway, he's been doing so well. But, yesterday and today

he's back to his old self - eating well for many days and then not

for others. Today, I checked his blood sugars at the park and he

was 71 !! I knew it by the way he was acting - but, didn't think it

was that low. Anything below 70 is bad for Ian - he usually crashes

quick (from my new recent experiences). Luckily - he took a Nutren,

Jr in the car, some M & Ms and we got him home to have some Apple

Juice and 3 bites of string cheese. I wish I could get him to eat

more - but, that's what got us in this mess to begin with - his lack

of eating today.

Now, when he's sick - I'm supposed to monitor his blood sugars every

2-4 hours as needed and his ketones during every void. I'm going to

run upstairs after this post to put a cotton ball in his diaper -

just to be sure. My instincts tell me to check his blood sugar

after his nap - but, I'm nervous about putting him down for one! Oh

brother. I think we are having steak and bread for dinner - that

boy needs more protein and carbs mixxed.

Anyway - if anyone has more suggestions on checking blood sugars -

please let me know. I have this feeling I'm going to be doing this

more often from now on. Thanks.
