When you get a flare, do you restart and go slowly again through the foods or do you do the intro and then go back to the foods you were eating before the flare? , The problem with doing SCD " on again and off again " is that SCD is designed to starve out the bad bacteria. So you starve out the weak sisters among the bad bacteria, and then you eat illegals... you feed the remaining, stronger bacteria. They then reproduce, and cause trouble, and they're that much harder to starve out when you go back to SCD. Every time you quit SCD, you make it that much harder to get results when you go back on. I have dropped back to intro when I've gotten a virus or inadvertently gotten hold of something illegal. Usually, I've been able to go back to the foods I was eating before the problem occurred fairly quickly, although that can vary from person to person. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle
Guest guest
Well I didn't MEAN to go off the diet, it just happened a little bit on the cruise and I didn't feel bad so I kept slipping up and before I knew it, I felt bad. Wish I could have done things differently but I didn't so now, I get to try again. And, surprise, surprise, I have been 100% SCD for two days now and am feeling much better already. > >Can anyone tell me how many times they have had > >to restart? I know you didn't! (And I'm not scolding you... honest!) This, however, is the main reason we stress fanatical adherence. 'Cause one little illegal may not seem to matter, so another little illegal gets added, and then another and another... and pretty soon, you've " one little illegaled " your way right off the diet! And no one has to hollar at you about that, 'cause you'll be doing it yourself, since you'll feel so lousy! I'm sure glad you are feeling better! — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle

It's a PDF which some people have for sale. It has some useful information in it... and calls for a bunch of stuff which isn't SCD at all. My personal opinion is that while it might be useful for some people, it makes starting SCD rather more complicated than it needs to be. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle
Guest guest
" and calls for a bunch of stuff which isn't SCD at all. " Marilyn, what is in there that isn't SCD? I have just begun reading it and didn't find anything wrong, but I am not an expert! " My personal opinion is that while it might be useful for some people, it makes starting SCD rather more complicated than it needs to be. " Marilyn, why is it more complicated? Is it not " required " that we add foods every fourth day? Just wondering what you disagreed with. Inquiring minds want to know! Guest guest
I would have to go back and find my copy and re-read it. All I can remember at this point is that my reaction to it was that if it had been my introduction to SCD, I would never have done SCD. I'm not saying that there hasn't been a great deal of work put into it. I'm just saying that the method which worked for the author may not work for everyone. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle
Guest guest
I absolutely agree with Marilyn as always. I have my intro now which i restarted several times already, and it goes so HARD, I feel so bad and tired, but results are significant, I can see my body is changing and my stomach is slowly starting to work. My way of SCD introduction is 1) boiled meat processed and blended in the morning2) grape juice for lunch3) again grape juice in the eveningTHAT'S ALL, nothing more i can digest even a slice piece of something else. Only pure water between and you need to give your gut about 6 hours to digest and absorb one meal before consuming the other. I hope to keep on few days more, I am sure the next day will be better. Guest guest
To and to whom who might be interested. On a second day of my Intro I have very light tea (black leaf) during the day, when I feel hungry or uncomfortable. And still have meat and homemade juice as a meal. > > I absolutely agree with Marilyn as always.
