Guest guest
Ranitidine is marketed under the name Zantac. It is used for treating GERD, ulcers and other conditions where there is too much stomach acid being formed. Also used in the treatment of hives, which I didn’t know! I wouldn’t use the syrup form of Ranitidine, but the tablets look OK. If you have the option to use the prescription form rather than the OTC version, I would, as there are usually less inactive ingredients. Of course there is never a guarantee that the medication will be tolerated. Each of us has to try, but also be ready for any adverse side-effects. Kim M. Guest guest
I used ranitidine 150 mgs for a while. It helped a lot and then once my UC started getting better and I was taking less pills I was able to ween off it slowly (b/c, like many other drugs your body can start to rely on it). Didn't we recently have a conversation where people were saying that for the most part with digestive diseases, it is not too much stomach acid being formed but too little? Does UC actually do the opposite, or is this a case of conventional wisdom, or *every case is unique*? Mara
