Guest guest
My son just got his band on Monday. We spent the first 2 days taking off his band every few hours to let the pressure spots cool down. They said to expect him to have really red spots and be sweaty from the band. I noticed that when we took off the helmet, that the pressure spots were flaming red and wet. I thought this was just par for the course. On Friday, I noticed that when I took off his helmet, the red spots were weeping. I called Cranial Tech and they said it sounded like heat rash that has turned into a yeast infection and to leave the band off for the weekend. We went to the pediatrician and thought it was either a bacterial or yeast infection and gave us an anti-bacterial cream and said to use Lotrimin too. Anyone have experience with this? How long did it take for your little one to heal enough to put the band back on? Thanks!
Guest guest
I'm surprised they said " heat rash " . Flaming red is never a good sign. Red is okay, and should fade to pink while band is off. I think once the skin breaks down it is hard to tell what the original cause was. However heat rash isn't usually just at the pressure spots, and is more of a rash than just big read spots (from my experience). Babies do heal fast. Make sure when the band goes back on you do frequent skin checks. If it is close by I would take her to CT to get the band adjusted also. I think it will take at least a few days if not longer before you can put the band back on. -christine sydney, 3.5 yrs, starband grad > > My son just got his band on Monday.
