Guest guest
I wrote my MIL/FIL an email discussing all the issues that came up with Colin's health this week. It was quite detailed and expressed all the concerns with what lies ahead and she writes me back saying she is sorry that the weather is so cold here and doesn't even mention ANYTHING in her email about what I wrote. This is typical with her, but very frustrating. Fortunately her visit here next week will be short (only 3 days). Does anyone else have a MIL/FIL in total denial that offers no support? Guest guest
LOL. Funny you should mention that. I was just thinking about the fact that we haven't even told Mikes parents yet. We've known for months! Mike doesn't want to tell them. I think we should. I don't think he thinks they'll be very supportive either. I just think they'll brush it under the rug......much like your situation. I don't know what's worse. Not telling them at all or knowing how they'll react if we do. It is frustrating. Guest guest
My mother-in-law, may she rest in peace, was not in denial. In fact, she interfered with everything and understood nothing. She used to " mourn " Max all the time and grossly underestimated his abilities. My husband used to get so frustrated with her. She would say she wanted to be involved and then only make things more complicated. She treated Max like a china doll most of the time - until she got sick with MS and slowly went downhill. Then some dementia set in and that led to a whole bunch of other problems. But now that I think about it, I do remember the time Max was in Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital in NYC. He had been there for about 2 weeks and she and her husband came to visit. She said she had to use the bathroom and went into the one in Max's room. I should mention that the baby in the other bed was on 24 hour oxygen. And my MIL did not go in there to use the facilities. She went in there to SMOKE!!! Oh, we were so angry. On the other hand, my father-in-law is a doll. I love him. He is the nicest man. Jodi Z
