I am a flat sleeper..I NEED to be completely flat in order to get a

good night's sleep. During my first night in the hospital (the day I

had my surgery), I would make my hospital bed go down completely flat

so I could sleep, and the nurse would come in and bug me to put it back

up. She said " We don't want you to lay flat. " Well once she left the

room, I'd put it back down, hehe. When I was propped up, I too got a

terrible backache

I would think by now, however, your daughter should be able to remove

some of those pillows. Me sleeping flat didn't make me swell more at

all. If you want to be safe though, you should probably mention it to

her surgeon.

I think it was a couple of weeks before I was able to sleep flat. One

of the things I found that was nice was a bedpillow with arms. I used

that with some small cushions to support the lower back. I did slip

down out of that one night, though, and had a pretty sore face the

next morning. I think it's the existence of soreness in the face and

the increased swelling in the morning that would determine whether or

not it's time to sleep flat again.

Is she getting up and around, walking, getting out now? Sleeping and

watching tv all day and night could be the cause too.

Glad to hear she's feeling better!
