Guest guest
Yes this just happened to me last week. I took the ointment stuff that I was rxed for under my apron and just put some in my belly button. Went away in one day. I didn't even think till later that I shoulda gone to the doctor to get it documented (yep I am still awaiting the decision on my panniculectomy..been almost 3 months now...will they EVER decide?) ~Kricket > Anyone experience this one? My belly button is bright red inside.
Guest guest
Talk to your derma. It does sound, like yeast. You want to get it documented for sure. Yeast LOVES powder. Yum yum! Makes them sooooooooooo happy that they reproduce like wildfire. Don't know about that particular one. If it's antiFUNGAL, then that is what you're trying to kill. FIRST document, then treat. Wash & dry, apply antifungal. Do that 3X per day for a few days, then 2x per day til gone. Then 1-2X a day (whatever it takes) til you solve the problem permanently. Part of it is to wash & dry EACH time, because you have to wash them off, make a less hospitable environment, then kill the lil buggers and put up a barrier. Cornstarch is the worst thing you can use, even though it seems like it'd dry it up. But it feeds the yeast. Baby powder is 2nd choice. However, those are good ways to get a good rash going again,. unfortunately. Mine was crumbly, and starting to break open the skin in parts before my derma set me straight. Thanks, Vitalady, Inc. Guest guest
The belly button problem is not new to me LOL. You need antibiotics. I have had the problem 3-4x in my life, 1/2 pre-op half post op. As an RN of 25 years NEVER ONCE was I told NOT to vigorously wash by BB. After my last infection the doc told me - said there is a kind of " plug " at the base (and here I thought it was crud) that prevents infection. When it is removed you get the drainage and odor - it requires oral antibiotics (I tried topical antibiotics, didn't work any of the times). Good Luck. And to all reading this - don't wash your belly button!! Amber/FL Yeast infection? Anyone experience this one? My belly button is bright red inside. It's only on the inside no where close to the outside, probably why I have no idea how long it's been this way. Don't usually look INSIDE my navel (kind of hard to do, LOL). I'm 17 months post-op so not related to surgery. Haven't had any plastics done, so not related to that. It does seem to always have been " damp " in there; I have noticed that the last couple of months. Sometimes even first thing in the morning (damp I mean). Didn't think much about it other than it was probably retaining water because of the shape my tummy is now a days. It's kinda closed up where it was more open before (bigger tummy, more open -- lose weight, smaller tummy, closed navel -- makes sense). Anyway it's red, a bit crusty near the edge, feels a bit " warm " and is a bit stinky. All signs of yeast infection, right? I've got some Nystatin powder my doc prescribed for rashes. Would this help? Warrant a trip to the doc? Just wondering if anyone else can relate and tell me what might help. No pain, no symptoms other than those above. TIA S. Guest guest
I have had this happen too. The nystatin might work but lotrimen or other cream for yeast infections would work as well. I usually try to keep it somewhat dry. Q-tips work really good. Guest guest
Yes, this used to happen to me all the time. Nystatin cream works. Probably powder too.
