Guest guest
Oh, dear. This is the first time I've heard of this one. Just reinforces my belief that for the long-run, those resorbable plastic screws and plates may turn out to be the best thing, once enough is known about them. As to suing: I think you need a lawyer's opinion about that. In this country, anyhow, you (and/or your parents) probably signed a release that's gonna make it fairly complicated to collect damages. Not to say it can't happen, but as best I remember, I absolved my docs, both ortho and surgeon, of just about any bad consequence that could result. Is your surgeon willing to work with you at all on any kind of treatment to give you relief? I don't know what. Acupuncture? TENS? anything? I'd work with the docs, as far as possible... Guest guest
Hi Jaimi, I am really sorry that you are experiencing such a frustrating and difficult situation. I hope that an un-thought-of resolution becomes possible for you. I just had a question for you- I was wondering where the problem screw was located in your mouth that it is in danger of causing permanent numbness to your tongue??? I ask because my tongue is partially numb at present and your post made me wonder where the screw might be located in my own mouth that is causing my numbness. Keep us posted on your situation! We will be rooting for you and your pain to diminish on its own- that is possible too. I don't know about suing, probably your best first step would be to obtain copies of all of the release forms that you signed and have them reviewed. Like Cammie said, I pretty much remember signing liability away for any eventuality- forwarned or not. But maybe your forms are different? Good luck and let me know about the location of that culprit screw!
