I don't have experience with Tricare but understand that the pannis is

one of the easiest things to get approved by most insurance companies.

There are usually requirements like it has to be hanging so many inches.

If you have had any reoccurent yeast infections or kidney infections or

have trouble with personal hygiene in that area, tell the plastic

surgeon. Good luck.

Keltie, I had Tricare pay for a full abdominoplasty! Two things I did, I

documented EVERYTHING. Including my female doc who told me that the weight

of the extra skin could be causing my UTI's. I switched Docs....she wouldn't

write a referral for me. And the Doc I got referred to for my PCP got tired

of my butt rash pictures. And the UTI's he told me he NEVER refers for this

type of surgery (I had requested a LBL), but that in my case he felt it was

a medical necessity. Now, the medical facility I got referred to by Tricare

does NOT do LBL. So, we are doing this in a two step surgery. I had the TT

and am now going for the Butt and Thigh lift. My PCP is willing to WRITE to

Tricare explaining WHY he feels it is a medical necessity on my part. But

then HECK, all they have to do is LOOK at my butt pictures to SEE! In full

color I must add.

So, document, and find a plastic surgeon who agrees with your PCP.

I have seen this question asked before, but I never did pay attention to the

replies because I did not have this particular insurance carrier.

I'm 3 yrs post-op now. While my weight is up about 10-15 lbs from my " low " ,

I still need to get a panni. The loose skin hangs, etc... Well, you guys

know the deal.

Does anyone have experience with TRICARE and how they cover pannis? I've

lost about 140# from my top weight... Now that my husband is in remission

and has finished up with his surgeries, it's time for me to take care of

myself. I want to get going on the panni this year. (And I figure that will

motivate me to get the regained weight off...)

Any help would be appreciated.

Tara -

Which region are you in? I've gotten conflicting answers so far. and it

depends on how it's approached, apparently. and WHERE. I'm pretty

tenacious. and if I have to play musical PCPs until I find one who will

cooperate with what I want (and need), I will do so. With my next rash, I

would take scads of pictures (they don't show up that well.. I'll need to

play with the pictures, I suppose)

Thanks for all those who have checked in with me on this. I have a few

months to get myself ready and to prepare a solid case.

Then I'll be able to add to the knowledge base on this one.

Regards,

Keltie

Keltie-

Let me know what you find out. I got Tricare- they said NO and No and No And

No. But I do know if they say no if you can find a Military hospital like

Walter and get a referral for them you can get it done without going

thru tricare :-) and if you want your boobs done they can do that too - the

only cost to you is the implants.
