Guest guest
This is a lot easier than it looks. I had surgery on lower jaw on the 4th of August and felt fine by day 5. Almost all the swelling (95%) was gone by the 10th of August. I only needed Panadol for 4 days. Almost no bruising. I could go back to work today. I planned on two weeks buy I think I will go back a bit earlier. Really its pretty easy if you prepare well by eating superbly beforehand and afterwards and resting as much as possible. Just relax and prepare well. Drink lots of mineral water. I mean lots. Have fun its no problem. > Hi everyone, > I'm very greatful for this support group. Guest guest
Hi, I had lower jaw advancement 3 1/2 weeks ago. I was able to open my mouth the same day as surgery. I had a splint on my upper teeth for 2 weeks and have rubber bands in my my mouth right now. The reason I am saying this is, that even though I could do all of that, it will still be at least 4 more weeks before I can eat anything that I have to bite into...even a hamburger. What will probably happen is you will go from liquid to soft foods...anything you can swollow. That is what I am on, this actually gives you a much bigger range of things to eat. You would be amazed at what you can swollow without chewing. Sorry about that, but here is a good news for you...last night I went to a friend's house. She made flank steak, marinated chicken, mashed potatoes and corn on the cob. I was able to cut the corn off the cob, and cut the flank steak into itty bitty peices. When I did that, and used a baby spoon to eat, I could eat the mashed potatoes, steak and corn. You cannot eat nearly as much as you are used to, but at least you can get it down. How much longer until you get your wires off? I feel so sorry for you that you are wired shut. Im currently in my third week wired shut and am getting kinda tired of the liquid diet. I was wondering if I could eat solid foods such as steaks and stuff right after my wires come off?
