Guest guest
Ok, its been given a name by weather.com and others. This is the great blizzard of 2009. So all your kids and grandkids will 30 years from now tell their kids " oh yes, this is a big snow, but nothing like I remember when we had the Blizzard of 09 " and by then the records of 25-30 inches some places have had will be in areas that are getting 6-10 inches and perhaps even be greater so they can say " oh and we had 4 feet of snow in our year and couldn't get the car out because the snow was taller than the car. " Well, it is a record snowfall and we do remember these things and embellish even as time goes on. I sure have a couple of those snowfalls and years in my memories. The year when I was young in Greensboro (1960 I think) and it snowed every week of March and on into April. For six weeks in a row we never went to school on Thursday as it snowed every Wednesday. Sometimes we did get to school ahead of the snow on Wednesday. Then one year in Chattanooga (1989 or so), we had the second biggest snow they had ever had and it stayed below freezing so the 13-15 inches stayed on the roads. Chattanooga has no snow removal equipment. Northern Alabama was hit very hard too. So, don't forget the Great Blizzard of 09.
Guest guest
Bruce, There is absolutely nothing "Great" about this blizzard! It's still coming down like crazy and we've had the streets plowed twice and they are all covered again. The community tries to stay on top of things but...the weather is winning tonight! So far 12 inches and counting...supposed to get 18+! Yikes and it isn't even into the bad part of winter yet! My stew came out great...the house smells so good with Mike's bread fresh from the oven and I thorougly enjoyed " & ". My day was fine except for the snow!!!But I can't do anything about that so I'll just read or watch TV. I just get upset if I know some one has to drive in this mess. But my kids are all in their homes, safe and sound! Z fibriotic NSIP/05 Z 65, fibriotic NSIP/05/PA And “mild” PH/10/07 No, NSIP was not self-inflicted…I never smoked!
