I always give Liam his after he is asleep... Even if he wakes abit, then he

Jodi,

Are you using an injectease? That makes it much easier and helps keep

your hand steadier when giving the shots. Also, you don't have to

look at the needle.

We used to give Max his shots while he was sleeping. They never

seemed to bother him. We actually gave him a choice each night. He

almost always chose the sleeping shot.

One more thing, Pat did her first ever shot on Max! She was very

nervous at the convention two years ago and I asked Max if she could

try on him. He agreed, she did it, and the rest is history. If you

lived closer, I would let you try it on Max, too. But since you don't

try using water and a stuffed animal or an orange. It just take

practice.

That's great. You are such a strong mom and is a strong kid. I am sure

you both will do very well. I hope the past few days went well for you. And I

will let you know how our visit goes tomorrow, thank you.

Thanks, Jodi. I seems to be doing alright I guess. We are using the

inject ease device. I was telling Deb, that I am a needle phobic,

too, and told Dr. H that I DID NOT want to see the needle and see it

go into him. That would have been to hard on me if I had to use a

plain syringe. Yuck. Is it normal for him to have a small bruise?

It seems they are going away quickly.

Thanks, for the encouraging words. I don't know how strong

I am though! Sometimes I wonder. I am looking forward to hearing

what you find out. I hope it is helpful. You guys have been through

so much and some answers would be great for you, I am sure.

Okay, I was feeling bad like I was doing something wrong. But, several

people have told me that they are expected. But, it always helps to

hear it from the people the give them all the time, like you guys.

Jodi,

The bruising is not the problem. After a few years, Dr. H. will check

for a thickening of the skin. That develops from overuse of the

sites. That is why you are supposed to rotate legs each night and

even then use different places on those legs. Max has that thickening

now, so he has to give his shots more in the inner thigh area. He

says it hurts less, too. I wonder when he will be done with these

shots????

Hey Jodi-

So gald to see that things went ok. I knew you would get through this just like

I did. Good Job and keep up the good work. Each day will get better and

better!!

has started GH therapy!

Hi all,

I just wanted to let you all know that has just started GH!

We started on 12/23 and boy was that an experience. I am amazed at

how well he is doing though. I held it all together during the

teaching and the actual giving of the shot. It was afterwards that I

fell apart. cried and I cried. I have been stressing about

this for quite some time now and the culmination of it all came to a

head after it was all over. He has gotten a total of four shots so

far now and has done well. His daddy is helping and seems to be

making it easier on and I. I am so glad he has been here to

help me. My dilemma is what I will do when he is working late

nights! I haven't wanted to give his shot after he is asleep

as I am worried it will wake him up and he will be scared to go to

sleep after that each night because he will be worried about when he

is going to get stabbed again. That may not happen, but I am

hesitant to find out! I may have to resort to that, but I don't

know. hardly ever bleeds, but I ave noticed bruising from the

shots and that bothers me some to see all those little bruises on his

legs. Poor thing. It doesn't seem to bother him after the fact

though. He is fine once you get his pants back on him. There is no

hysterical crying or nothing. I am thinking it has something to do

with daddy being around. ;o)

I just wanted to let you all know we have crossed over into the next

chapter of our lives and that seems to be tolerating it very

well. What a trooper. He never ceases to amaze me.

Hope all is well with everyone,

Jodi R.
