Post-surgery: Why is my bite is opening?

Hi - I'm hoping for some input from those who've been there!

I had a BSSO with a split osteotomy 12 days ago. About three days ago

I noticed my bite changing - it's like my teeth are opening (like a

thumb-sucker's bite). My back molars come together finally but I now

have a gap in front where my teeth don't come together! My problem

before surgery was an overbite, not an open one, so I can't figure out

why this is happening. Is it normal to have this much and/or kind of

movement?

Also, I seem to be getting an adhesion where they cut for the split,

below my lower front teeth at the bottom. The tissue from my inside

lip has formed a small connection to the base of the gums and it's

very painful - has anybody experienced this and, if so, what has been

done to fix it?

Thanks in advance to the participants of this board, it's been very

helpful to be able to learn from others going through similar

surgeries!

I didn't have either of these troubles -- but if I had, or if I ever

do, I will run, not walk, to my ortho and surgeon.

Good luck. I hope it's nothing serious, and I'm being an alarmist.

But if it were my mouth, I'd wanna know from the pros.
