Guest guest
The numbers were not mentioned in the email. They are immaterial though. If the oral dosage got better results, then it does not matter what the actual results were. Oral is better. Guest guest
Not the numbers in the study. I meant HER numbers. She can do a personal study of one, her own self and see which works for her. Where WAS she, where IS she, what is the trend? Personally, I'm not taking the subs. I'm not good at anything that must be " tasted " , liquid, lozenge or chewable. I'm not wild about needles, but I can do that on a regular basis. I do them weekly, but I'd not advise that for anyone else, unless they have need. I am addressing other issues with it, under the care of more than one doc. When 3 tell you to go to 1/wk, you do. Have been doing it over a year and my numbers are very reasonable. Guest guest
What does " labs seem good " mean? Did you start at 1200 but dropped to 400, which is still in range? Are you holding steady at 600? I had a friend who's bottom dropped out after about 6 years and she ended up with pernicious anemia and neurological problems that will not leave her for the rest of her life? But even pre-op I've had poor circulation and constantly suffer from cold hands and feet. My B-12 levels are in the low normal range. I wonder if starting to take B-12 injections will help? Guest guest
Ray, Dr. Baker didn't follow ME. I took high-quality B-12 sublinguals, 32,000% RDA, DAILY for 18 months after my RNY. In that time, my serum B-12 dropped from my natural pre-op 1151 to 118, completely into full-blown pernicious anemia with some minor neurological damage. Now I do my shots every other week, and have peaks and valleys that run between 2000 and 600. You know what, 600 is the lowest level that I feel good, so every two weeks, I give myself a shot. The people who are nearly depleted by the time they get their next shot are simply not getting shots often enough. Duh. A 30-dose vial of the vitamin retails for about $6, and needles run 25 cents each at my pharmacy, so you're talking about a 35-50 cent investment in feeling great. I honestly wish that EVERY post-op was taught how to give themselves B-12 shots every two weeks for the rest of their lives. It would save a lot of grief and frustration, not to mention permanent neurological damage. But that wouldn't make the docs much money. Oh well. I honestly think that only people who are at risk of IV drug abuse if they have needles around, or people who are afraid of giving themselves shots, should be put on sublinguals. Guest guest
, we are all so different aren't we - my B12 was 19K on sublinguals so there is absolutely no reason for me to take the injections. As an RN shots don't bother me in the least and I am quite happy to avoid peaks and valleys since my B-12 is high, in fact, I have dropped from daily to 2x a week in an effort to bring it down some. Guest guest
I'm with you on the tasted stuff and because my numbers were so low (below 300) and I was feeling so crappy, I FINALLY convinced my VERY hard headed family practice Doc into weekly shots for awhile. I " INFORMED " him that I wanted to see MY numbers up in the 1200 range. When he went bug eyed over that, I informed him that not everyone is the same and what makes ONE person feel good will NOT necessarily make another feel good and that since I couldn't OD on B-12 I couldn't see what the big deal was. If he did NOT want the Navy paying for it....to give me a script and I would PAY for it myself. He totally did a 180 on me and gave me my prescription so that the Navy would pay for it. I still feel like crap, but he says it is too soon to feel a difference. He didn't know how lucky he was that I forgot all the stuff I printed up on B-12 deficiency! Then he asked how long I had had sores in my mouth. That nearly did it for me. I told him I had been complaining about this for almost a YEAR! He said...he didn't remember me complaining. SHEESH.....ok....he DID tell me that Doctors were horrible listeners. And he FINALLY did do what I asked him to do. So...when do I stop feeling like crap? Guest guest
How convenient! My ins would pay all if I get them from my doc, but often that means sitting around til they get 2 secs, drop my drawers in the kitchen and get a shot while the nurse runs down the hall. LOL!
