Just catching up on posts/messages/photos and stuff. I am recovering from a

torn/injured intercostal muscle. I have pain medication, but it doesn't quiet

the cough. The intercostal muscle is attached to the rib cage. If you injure

or tear the muscle, it can take 6-8 weeks to heal. It hurts every time I cough

or sneeze. I try to limit my movements to minimal stretching/bending/turning as

that also hurts. I take mucinex DM/robitussin DM to quiet cough, but it doesn't

work all that well. I was on Hyzaar, but my insurance company insisted I try

lisinipril... which has a cough side-affect that I seem to have problems with.

My GP is trying to get me back on the Hyzaar as my cough has become more

pronounced since I was 'forced' to take the lisinipril. Sometime in 2010

Hyzaar/Cozaar are supposed to become classified as generic and that would help

get me back on them, but we have to wait and see on that. The insurance company

is also giving me grief about getting a higher liter production concentrator.

Currently I have a 1-5 liter concentrator and my pulmonary rehab people

recommend a 6 liter dose while exercising, which my pulmonologist wrote a

prescription for, but which my supplier said the insurance people would not

provide without another 6-minute walk test (mine was 32 days old, from the time

I had the 6-minute walk to the time that I got an appointment with my

pulmo-dude) as they have a rule that the test must be within 30 days!!! I am

going to get in touch with the insurance company because I feel so like I am

being jerked around. I try to be nice and cooperative, and this is what I get.

I found a $350.00 error in billing between one of my providers and the insurance

company, but I guess that isn't enough to keep them happy. Oh well. 2010 will

be a better year, even if I have to kick and scream through the whole year!!

LOL

Hey, everyone, Have a happy new year, enjoy the " new " air and may they learn

more this next year about this insidious disease.
