Guest guest
......when does this annoying drooling stop? Is it when my swelling is all gone and I can close my mouth? I'm 1-week post-op and frustrated and numb and already sick of pureed food, how am I going to last?
Guest guest
mmm the drooling is a tricky one. i found that mine stopped really when i regained sensation back in my lips and chin and that wasn't until week 5 or 6. It did however get much better around week 2 and i was able to control it enough to be able to leave the house and be seen by other people. I also found that sometimes i felt like i was drooling but when i would wipe my mouth nothing was there. the nerves play strange tricks on you and for now you'll have to play the patience game. Just think, you've gotten through the hardest part which is going into the surgery and getting through the first week. From here things should start to get better. As for being sick of pureed food, i hear you! one of my fave dishes while i was recovering was beef or chicken broth soup mixed in with a beaten egg and grated parmesan cheese. you need to get into your system as much protein as possible, as well as liquids so that your body can regenerate and speeden up the healing process. I'll post some other recipe suggestions in a separate post for everyone. In the mean time, don't give up. We're all rooting for you!! Sara > .....when does this annoying drooling stop? Guest guest
Ah, I remember the days of drooling post op. Surely annoying along with the constant nose of mine that kept running with no warning. My drooling lasted until about 3 weeks post op and did get better as the swelling went down. I promise you that you will last and when you look back you will realize it wasn't so bad after all. Hang in there because each day will get better! --Caboose > .....when does this annoying drooling stop? Is it when my swelling is > all gone and I can close my mouth? Guest guest
For me, the drooling was residual liquid left in my mouth, so I made sure to really spit out at the sink when I was cleaning up after " eating " . That really helped for me. You've got a lot longer to go than 1 week of recovery, so my advice is to just relax, let it go, don't waste time getting upset about it. I found the post-op symptoms pretty funny, myself. Sometimes I felt like a baby again, learning how to drink, how to chew, etc. > .....when does this annoying drooling stop?
