Guest guest
Hi Pam., I am sorry I have not spoken to you for a while, my brother has come over for a visit and they are staying with us so its been vey busy. My teeth have been killing me, I feel like I have a toothache all day long, my surgeon said its because I am getting my feeling back and because they have changed my wires in my braces that they are pulling my teeth back into aligment after surgery. I did have a really bad day yesterday, so I just vegged out watching TV all day. The kids are on school holidays for two weeks, so at least I don't need to get up early and rush around getting them ready for school. I have a 7 year old and a 3 year old, both boys. How are you going with the dribbling? I have none at the moment which is good, even though my numbness still bothering me as I talk funny, but I can now feel all the side of my face, the only numbness is in the tip of my nose, cheeks, top lip and partly of my bottom lip and chin. Everydy I am feeling more and more and with that I am getting a little more pain, but the toothache is the worst. I was on pain killers all day yesterday, Now I know what Dennis was talking about, with numbness you hardly have any pain, but with feeling you get lots of pain, but I prefer to have pain than numbness. Hope you have a lovely day. Thinking of you...:-) > My teeth feel sensitive to the point where they hurt - did anyone else > have this during their recovery? Guest guest
Hi , Sounds like me, painful teeth.....perhaps then the sensitivity is a good thing - we sound like we are on the same healing pattern. I've been very lucky and not had to get the kids ready in the mornings yet as I've had my mother-in-law, and now my mother come to help. The drooling has gotten alot better, but not gone completely. I hope your kids are being good for you during this time. I find that mine were a good distraction for me for the past couple weeks. Take care, keep me posted on your recovery! Guest guest
Hi , I was reading up on neurosensory disturbance problems after surgery, and tooth sensitivity is indication of a good recovery. So....bring on the tooth-aches! Pam > > My teeth feel sensitive to the point where they hurt - did anyone > else > > have this during their recovery? Guest guest
Hi Pam, I was about to post about this very topic until I saw your post! I'm at eight weeks with increased sensitivity every day, it feels like I'm continously biting into an ice cream cone. It's especially tough to brush, especially one particular tooth. I'm a little worried about such sensitivity and pain so late but feel better after reading your post - it's a good sign. Will ask my surgeon about it when I see him tomorrow, > > > My teeth feel sensitive to the point where they hurt - did > anyone > > else > > > have this during their recovery? Guest guest
Hi, I had surgery 3 weeks ago, and some of my teeth are very sensitive especially to cold food.... I just put it down to the nerves recovering from surgery... hopefully it won't last eh? Guest guest
Hi Pam, How are you going today? How are the kids? I took the kids out to the movies today and by the time I got home I was exhausted. I have started to have a little bit of feeling on my bottom lips, but its weird. How come you had the jaw widened 3 years ago and did not have the other jaw operation at the same time? You are right as the look thing its really psycological. I did not like it for the first couple of weeks, its only in the last few days I have come to terms with it. I hope you are feeling better and stronger yourself. How is your eating going? Guest guest
Hi , things are well, I'm alot stronger but tire out easily, as I'm sure you do. I've been very spoiled with the help I've gotten, but it's been a good excuse to have Grandma come and help out with the kids, and the kids love having her here. She basically buses them to school and back. For my previous surgery, I had a very narrow upper jaw. The surgery is to put a small cut in the bone, then over the next 2 months you crank an appliance that was previously put in your mouth and it opens your upper jaw by 1/4 mm/day. The bone fills in gradually. I had my jaw widened by about 1 cm. Aside from having a huge gap in my from teeth for 6 months, the outcome of this was the best part of my whole experience. I had a very narrow upper jaw and my tongue didn't really fit in the roof of my mouth and I lisped, so it was noticeably different for me to have it wider. Supposedly your upper face gets numb with this surgery too, but I didn't experience any of that (lucky me). This procedure was done before the braces were even put on. Eating seems to be going well, but I see myself getting a little tired of my food routine soon - oh well, it won't be forever. How's your eating? Have you lost more weight, or are you managing to keep it on? Glad to hear you are getting some feeling back. I have started getting a bit of feeling on one side of my lip, but not the other, there's a portion where it's still as numb as before - I hope this isn't my spot that I won't regain any feeling. (I worry too much, and I'm not very patient). Your lucky you can kiss your kids, I can't get my lips together to do that yet :-(o) Take care, Pam > > > > > > My teeth feel sensitive to the point where they hurt - did > > > > anyone > > > > > else > > > > > > have this during their recovery? Guest guest
Hi Pam, I am also getting sick of the food. I am getting hungrier and I am just wanting to bite into something yummy, don't care what. I am also craving chocolate and cakes ( I don't usually eat much normally). My parents have now gone back home, so I have been left by myself. I am finding it ok, but because we have school holidays at the moment, the kids are getting sick of being home.Like you I get too tired very quickly. Just going out to do the grocery shopping is a huge task. I feel ok at home though. Do you feel more numb first thing in the morning?. I sleep with this special pillow which is like spleeping on three pillows, but I still find first thing in the morning I am more numb and swollen. The bands are also cutting my gums, thank god I still can't feel them 100%. I asked the doctor about removing them and I have to put up with them for at least another 4 weeks. " Can't wait " . Have a wonderfull day, take care, > > > > > > > My teeth feel sensitive to the point where they hurt - > did > > > > > anyone > > > > > > else > > > > > > > have this during their recovery? Guest guest
Hi Pam, I had some chocolate last night with mashmellows, It was hard to just suck without chewing, but managed. I am finding also I am more swollen in the mornings, but slowly we are getting there. the swelling has really not gone down that much in the last couple of days, I am seeing the doctor on tuesday so se what He has to say. My molars are hurting me though. the braces are really pulling them as they have to move them and I am finding a lot of discomfort. Have you got bands in your mouth. Mine are hurting and giving me a jaw ache, may be I am talking too much. I find it now that my parents have gone back home I can;t take my night pain killers as my 3 year old has decided of late that 4.00am is a good time to get up this days. A bit hard to handle at the moment. I have posted some photos under , just before the operation and after. Let me know what you think. Take care, > > > > > > > > > My teeth feel sensitive to the point where they > hurt - > > > did > > > > > > > anyone > > > > > > > > else > > > > > > > > > have this during their recovery? Guest guest
Wow - look at you! You look great. Everyone's so brave to have pictures taken, I haven't had any taken so far! I can't get my mouth together, it sort of hangs open - which my OS told me to do until things heal up a bit. Maybe on Monday when I go see him I'll get new instructions. I have bands on my teeth right now, not banded shut, just 2 bands. If I talk too much my jaw hurts too. My teeth still tingle, my chin is tingling/hurting like mad - which is sort of a good feeling because it means there's life down there. Poor you with a 3-yr old night-owl. My 5-yr old is also a night owl but I've trained her to climb in on her Dad's side of the bed. I do remember when she was younger though, when she got up in the wee hours, she was up and did not go back to sleep. You must be so tired. This is when you must resort to videos for the kids so you can get some rest - guilt-free. And call on your friends for play- dates, which you can repay later. I am taking extra strength tylenol at night, which works for me, but wears off after 4 hours so I have to get up in the middle of the night to take it again. I felt very good today, first day of energy and feeling a bit more normal. Thanks for posting pictures, maybe I will post one too. Guest guest
Hi , I hope you don't mind me butting in here, but your pictures look really great! You can see the difference in allignment especially on day 14, as the swelling has come down a lot. I mean, I am sure you still feel really swollen, and I am sure you are, but it isn't really obvious swelling that people who don't know you would be observant of. I don't know if I am saying this right! lol What I am saying is that you look great! It has been a long time since I had a three year old running around, but I definately feel for you on getting up at 4 AM. Hopefully this will resolve too! lol Good luck with your appointment on Tuesday. Guest guest
Hi Fran, I don't mind you butting in at all. I love reading your emails. You are great. Thank you for the compliment. I am getting use to the new look, even though when I took the photos I dont know whether it is because I am numb I feel more swollen than what I really am. I do like the extra swelling at the moment as the same as Pam I have lost a few wrinkles and people are commenting I look younger. I had a very long thin face before the op. I have only taken a couple of profile photos, that's huge. It does not look like me at all. I will post them into the system so you can have a look, because I had such a huge overbite ( 15mm) I looked like goofy. the braces did a wonderful job of reducing my overbite to 7mm, but the problem was that my top and bottom jaw looked too far back giving me that long and anorexic look ( if you know what I mean) lolololo. Thank you again for your flattering remarks. I will keep reading your postings. Take care. Love & hugs, > > > > > > > > > > > My teeth feel sensitive to the point where they > > > hurt - > > > > > did > > > > > > > > > anyone > > > > > > > > > > else > > > > > > > > > > > have this during their recovery?
