Guest guest
Hi Pete, Good luck for monday. You will be fine, its not all milkshakes, I myself have not had one since the operation. Lots of nice soups and ice creams, yoghurts and really anything soft. Take care, > I may be a little late to this, having started the preparatory work 4 > years ago, but i'm actually having the op on Monday!! > > Im not very good with the techincal terms yet (lots of time to work on > that on the ward!) > > Im having my lower jaw retracted by about 6mm, and the top jaw extended > by a minimum of 6 and preferably eight. > > I havent got any worries apart from I dislike milkshakes and similar > things, but figure im going to have to get over that pretty fast! Guest guest
Hi Pete, I am preop, so I will let others give you some tips for your recovery, but I wanted to send you good wishes for Monday. I hope you will be able to post when you feel up to it post op. And I hope your recovery is uneventful and mild. Hugs, Fran > I may be a little late to this, having started the preparatory work 4 > years ago, but i'm actually having the op on Monday!! Guest guest
Hi Pete, I just had my surgery yesterday, and so far all I've " eaten " is medicine, water, grape juice, and chicken broth. I also bought myself some V8 with added calcium, pineapple/orange/banana juice, a couple of yogurt smoothies, and a few creamy soups for a week or two away or whenever I can drink thicker liquids. I'm taking in all of my fluids with syringes right now, and also bought some Zip N' Squeeze bags but haven't used them yet. I actually wouldn't mind having a shake right about now, but didn't pick any of those up yet. Might be sending the husband out later to get some. ~

Guest guest
Tiff, Glad to hear you made it to the next stage. I feel sometimes as if im worrying about the little things, and am a bit fussy, but then arent I allowed to be. I hadnt really though at all about how I would be eating. My orthodontist and co are great, but they have given me no info about post op - I didnt expect it to be quite so dramatic. Im stilll on the climb down, having had my surgery cancelled, having got all worked up to it - so im going to see if I can get as prepared as possible now I have a little longer to go Take care - each days a step nearer the end!
