Guest guest
> Hi everyone- > > I have been pretty quite on this board but have enjoyed reading the posts and finding support on this intestinal healing journey I am on. I recently saw a new doctor who prescribed CREON, LDN, NYSTATIN and CORTEF. has anyone had experience with these? I know many of you have taken LDN and I would love to hear about your experiences either on or off list. LDN is wonderful, but if you have yeast, which I assume because of the nystatin, the yeast blocks it and you will assume it is not working. So I would start the yeast protocol first and complete that or come close to completing it before you start the LDN. Not familiar with the other two. We have extensive posts in the archives on LDN. Depending on what is wrong with you, it is recommended to get it compounded either at coastalcompounding.com or Skip's Pharmacy. And starting with a lower than full dose. And perhaps starting as well with the cream rather than pills, depending on the severity of your gut issues. Mara > Also, I have been making the zucchini muffins as a bread since I didnt have muffin tins I was using a loaf pan. The bread tasted good but always was mushy on the inside...last time I made it I sliced it and re-baked the slices and this worked great. Just thought I would share in case anyone else had a similar issue > > thanks > Cody > > > > ------------------------------------ > >

Guest guest
I know this is what they say but it wasn't entirely true in my case. I think the LDN did kick up yeast a bit, a few months after I started it, but because even very small doses were giving me protection or waking up my immune system so I no longer had colds literally at least five days a week, I was unwilling to give up LDN while I took Diflucan. So I kept it, and I still had most of that protection. I'm really glad I didn't give up the LDN. Guest guest
Thanks everyone for all the really helpful info! How do I know if the nystatin I got has sugar in it? I am still working on getting 100% legal. I've eliminated all the major stuff ( sugar, startches) and make 90% of the food I eat. But, I have a nasty gum addiction ( I chew the one made with only xylitol) that I am trying to get rid of and still have some supplements in my diet that I think may have illegals in them. I think the yeast may be partially why I have such intesne gum cravings..the sugar. I am hopeful that in time I will be able to be 100% SCD and also hoping in the meantime that being 95% SCD is still allowing some healing to begin. this group is so wonderful and I feel blessed to have found it Cody UC 2007 LDN 1 week > > I know this is what they say but it wasn't entirely true in my > case. Guest guest
Oof! No wonder I had so much trouble and got so sick earlier in the year when the doc wanted me to take Nystatin for awhile! Thanks, Sue. There is cornstarch in all the Nystatin RXs I could find---that stuff nearly killed me, but I am extremely sensitive to any corn product. I had started SCD and was getting seriously worse until I realized the cornstarch in the Nystatin. Note: Nystatin taken in high doses decreases the production of cortisol, so if you are at all adrenal insufficient, you might want to talk your doctor about an alternative. Guest guest
I get my Nystatin compounded, because I could not find any pre-made that was legal. And I searched all the Mexican and Canadian pharmacy sites, etc. It is crazy expensive, of course, but I'm sure we've all gotten used to that. It should be reimburseable through insurance, but my two years of medical bills are sitting on my dining room table and I haven't gotten around to submitting them to determine is this is the case. Cortef also has illegal ingredients, including cornstarch, lactose and sucrose. And while it is controversial whether it does or not, I think it can contribute to yeast overgrowth. I took it for nine months when I first got sick and believe that I gotter sicker and sicker while on it. It did make me feel better, in that the horrible, insidious sick feeling went away to some extent, as did the anxiety, but my allergies were awful, I would go what I assume to be hyperthyroid regularly, and I was still exhausted under the shallow veneer of energy it gave me. Ultimately I had to go off it when they found lumps on my thyroid. Folks in the FDC group say you can apply topical hydrocortisone cream for a similar effect while bypassing the GI tract, if someone is intersted in taking HC while staying legal. And I've tried Isocort, which I think is a good product, but it contains the following: freeze dried adrenal cortex, echinacea extract, prunus spp. and lomatium dissection root, and lactose and lactase. Does anyone know if the prunus and lomatium are legal? And whether the amount of lactose is small enough to be ignored, as Elaine allows for?
