Pam, many people have reported that as their guts healed, the incidence

of allergies significantly reduced. I know mine did.

I've had a major improvement in my seasonal allergies on SCD. I used to be

miserable in spring and fall, mainly with very itchy eyes, nose, and throat.

Now, I sometimes get mildly itchy eyes, but not often. Really the only thing I

still deal with is drainage down my throat, but it's not bad enough that it

bothers me.

Oh, and I eat raw local honey as well. That may be part of what has helped me.

thinking my 6 year old son might suffer from them (a STRONG genetic link in the

males of the family), and has had a lot of blinking/dry/red-ish eyes lately. At

this point, they are unknown allergies, but likely environmental. There has

never been any overt reaction to anything, just these little smalls signs. I'm

slowly including more SCD into my family's diet, but just want to know if there

is more specific information regarding how it might help alleviate allergies.

Thanks!

I had TERRIBLE allergies and had to take allergy shots for 31 yrs. Don't need

them after SCD. I DO have to take antihistamines at times like these...

ungodly mold count after a huge amt. of rain here the past month... YES! As my

nurse daughter says, " Mom, it's just logical since 80% of our immune system is

in our gut. "

past 30 yr. by extremely low-carb, no dairy, no grains allergy/anti-yeast diet,

SCD 01/05. After 35 yrs. no need for allergy shots since SCD! :) Magnesium/Vits

recovered from serious developmental problems which I believe were

fungally-caused.

Wow! :)

I'm also hoping to get my husband more on SCD...eventually! He has allergies,

and is totally set in his thinking that it's genetic (both parents have it bad)

and therefore nothing will help but drugs. Silly boy....I'll get him

there....eventually!

Just wanted to chime in. My husband used to need a Claritin D every 24 hours

like clockwork for 30 years from spring to fall. He started SCD in Feb. of this

year and has only needed allergy meds about once every 3 weeks except for this

last week in which he has used one every other day. I understand it is one of

the worst hayfever seasons in many years.

I should also mention that my husband used to take antibiotics for his rosacea

and since starting the diet, he has not taken any at all! He is very happy

since he decided to do SCD to support our 13 yd with Crohn's and never expected

to benefit so much himself.
