Guest guest
Cut back on the carbs- apples, carrots, and the squash are high carb. Baked products for me are instant weight gain. Once I added veggies, instead of fruit, my weight stayed more stable. I never tolerated many carbs. I do use honey occasionally, but not if I eat fruit. Pureed zucchini is a good low carb substitute for fruit at meals. PJ > > Hi, > based on what I read in the posts people are struggling to gain weight. Well, I am the opposite. I work hard to maintain it and I had it where I would like to keep it, but as I started SCD (about 1 month and a half) I have gained 4 pounds already. I try to stay away from almond cookies though they are very good and I don't think that I am overdoing in what I eat, yet I gained like a pound since yesterday and that is completely freaking me out... Here is what I eat: > Breakfast > DCCC with 24-hour yougurt with pureed baked apple or honey > Lunch > chicken broth with chicken meat with 3 tbsp of pureed carrots > apple sauce > sometimes some DCCC too > Dinner > Some chicken meat with pureed butternut squash > some yougurt with honey or DCCC > > Lately I seem to crave DCCC, maybe lack of calcium... > I did start doing some fresh squeezed juices too, 2-3 times a day, mostly vegetable juice. > What I am doing wrong and how can I maintain my weight? ;-) Any clues will be appreciated... > Thanks! > >
Guest guest
I noticed that the more DCCC I ate, the more weight I picked up. I mainly made the SCD Cheesecake from BTVC and gained at least a pound a day but it was so good. Now I only make the cheesecake on special occasins. Holly O. Guest guest
Well, I am trying to cut some carbs today and DCCC. I feel so hungry though. Being still on stage 1 there are not that many choices... I really enjoyed DCCC with yougurt with some honey... I guess I will have to stay await from it for some time. I wonder what do you eat in order not to gain? I mean if you need to stay away from carbs like veggies and fruit... and DCCC. I make yogurt from whole milk, so it's not non-fat either... not that I want it to be. I used to live on salad and meat (cave man diet) and I was really successful at losing and maintaining the weight. Now I don't want to gain at all, I could actually lose a few more pounds... I can't see at this time going back to spinach because it might have contributed to my colon issues in a first place... I am at a loss... Thanks! > > > > > > Hi, > > > based on what I read in the posts people are struggling to gain weight. > > Well, I am the opposite. Guest guest
I am just really not sure what veggies I would\can eat. I mean for stage 1 it's squash. It's high in sugar. So are carrots. I like them in the soup, but I would not eat them by themselves. Artichokes i don't like... Aspargus you can't eat much, at least I can't... I just want some food that I can eat without guilt... and I can't do fresh salad yet right? Thanks for all your help!!! > > > > > > > > > > Hi, > > > > > based on what I read in the posts people are struggling to gain weight. > > > > Well, I am the opposite. Guest guest
you know my " cheesecake " actually only has dccc, egg whites ,van and cinnamon - maybe you could keep it in your diet and not gain - as long as you don't eat an entire one each day like me! (with pecan butter on top sometimes too! ) can you say pig??!!! thank God i'm tiny (but yet hypothyroid - weird) - but happy!!!! lol! eileen > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Hi, > > > > > > > based on what I read in the posts people are struggling to gain weight. > > > > > > Well, I am the opposite. Guest guest
For veggies, how about spinach (stage 1), zucchini (stage 1), and green beans (used to be stage one, but is now 2). Also, don't feel chained to the stages. Try some stage 3 veggies, one at a time, to see if they agree. You might be surprised! There are people who tolerate broccoli and cauliflower before they do carrots and squash. I was very surprised that I was fine with peas (with the skins), yet not with pureed carrots. For a no guilt treat, how about jello with a low carb juice? I make some with pomegranate juice. 1 cup water + 1 cup juice + 2 tbsp. gelatin = 20 grams of carbs. That's a big bowl of jello too! Add more gelatin to make it thicker if you want. Holly Crohn's SCD 12/01/08 > > I am just really not sure what veggies I would\can eat. > I mean for stage 1 it's squash. It's high in sugar. Guest guest
Some people gain weight with fats, some people gain weight with carbs, and some are unlucky and gain with both fat and carbs. Someone posted an article awhile back that said they will soon be able to tailor diets for people based on which of these 3 types their bodies are. I, for one, have found I gain weight with fat, not carbs. Cheese always makes me gain! Guest guest
I gain easier with extra fats, too. And for me, calories DO count as well. No matter what " they " say. Sigh.
