Guest guest
Greetings~ I'm scheduled for surgery late this fall (upper/lower) with a bone graft. I'm told the bone will come from the upper front of my hip. Of all that will be involved with my surgery, the bone graft has me the most nervous. Good luck to you! Guest guest
My hip was sore and I spent a few days in bed without getting up. I had to use crutches to get around as it was painfull to put weight on it. I had physiotherapy to help. I live in the UK and we do some things different here, I have spoken to a few people who have had a bone graft and they were up and about on their leg/hip within 12 hours after surgery. --------------------------------- Start your day with Yahoo! - make it your home page
Guest guest
Thanks for the info. I have a call in to the surgeon to ask about it. I'll post what I hear for everyone to see in case they have the same questions. I can't imagine that being on crutches after jaw surgery helped your healing any! They make me cranky on a good day! > My hip was sore and I spent a few days in bed without getting up. I had to use crutches to get around as it was painfull to put weight on it. Guest guest
Hi, Im new to the group. I'm having both upper and lower jaws done in a few months. I was told i might need a bone graft. Does everyone need one? Did they cause much discomfort or anything? Any advice would be awesome Lyssa
Guest guest
Hi Lyssa, From what iv'e learnt from this site not everyone needs a bone graft. I did have a bone graft taken from my hip. Where is your surgeon going to take the bone graft from? --------------------------------- Yahoo! Music Unlimited - Access over 1 million songs. Try it free. Guest guest
Hi Lyssa, First of all, welcome to the board! Not everyone needs the bone graft. I will need one, and they will be taking it from my hip. Though I am preop, my son had a bone graft for his foot surgery 10 years ago. He had his doner site from his hip also. Unfortunately, that was quite sore for him and took a while for him to completely recover from it. Now, you can barely see where they took it from , and he didn't even remember it until I asked him about how it was for him!! lol I don't know if this helps, but that is all I know at this point.
