Deb,

What we have done is make nice with our pediatricians staff. We ran into

many of the same problems. I made nice with a nurse at our peds office.

Now when I get the run around I call Kristy and let her know and ask if

there is anything she can do to help us out. She always gets farther

faster!! I bake her cookies after an especially obnoxious episode to show

my thanks. Now whenever we are in for a check up with my youngest who is 16

months, the whole office knows us!! This is great in case Kristy is sick I

am SURE one of the other nurses would help us out!

Subject: reasonable time to wait for drs callbacks?

Hi there...

I am frustrated and wanted you guys opinions. There are two ped endo

groups

in town. One takes medicaid (which our son has) and one does not. The UT

group is the one who does and the one who saw us while we were inpatient

with

the hypoglycemia. However, I am so tired of waiting for phone calls!

True was discharged on the 26th. ON the 27th, I started calling to make

the

appt I was told to make for 4 weeks from discharge. I have left countless

msgs. Its very irritating. Someone finally called me back last Friday but

they were trying to schedule us in the Diabetes clinic and we were supposed

to

go in endo clinic. Today they called back and had an appt for May! I told

her four weeks and she says " oh yeah, says that right here but I'm not the

one

in charge of it and have to take it back to them " . uggh!

I have been asking for our test results since Friday and even faxed a

letter

to the dr yesterday. I didn't even mention how many phone calls I had

made.

I need to talk to the dr also about the food trials I posted about a few

days ago.

Today I called the other endo and was going to see them in the meantime.

We

would have to self-pay which is usually not terribly bad. However, their

initial visit is $600!!! We have taken our kids out of town to see world

specialists who blocked two hours just for us and only paid $500! I

couldn't

believe it! So, that door is closed...i can't see paying that much for 20

minutes worth someones time...thats almost triple what our lawyer charges!

So I'm back to square one. A very sweet and wise woman I know who doesn't

know me super well but God always seems to have her say the right thing for

me...said...don't be a doctor hopper or they will think you are problem. I

tend to be that way, especially if I am frustrated with the staff. (She

lost a

son to spinabifida who has GH problems and hypoglycemia and went to the UT

clinic). So I guess I am staying...

but when do you say enough is a enough? Anyone have any strategies on how

to get through when you have staff like this? I try to make friends with

someone but they are just not friendly even when you can get them on the

phone

(as I know from the same clinic with my other son).

thanks for letting me blow off steam!
