Guest guest
MB- I am returning a call to the nurse of my pulmodude this morning. He is the transplant plumodude at St ph's in Phoenix. He agreed to see me because before that he was at Jewish and in fact my doc at JEwish, Dr. Cosgrove, was his fellow. Will see what they say. Maybe I won't have to go to Phoenix an dhe can just taLK with my primary doc.....as to my blood pressure I sure don't understand. I lost 20 lbs and became a vegetarian and suddenly my blood pressure jumps up and my heart rate? Something is amiss. Guest guest
Joyce Rudy You do understand as the key is " something is amiss " . Something is taking place they must figure out. So keep on it until they do. But until they figure out what is pushing your blood pressure up and get it under control, you must be cautious. > > MB- I am returning a call to the nurse of my pulmodude this morning. Guest guest
Joyce,Just a lttle info on my part. I have been on an anti depressant and since my dx I have had many hours of crying and unhappiness which led my Doctor to up my meds every couple of weeks. Well, about a week ago I started having very fast heart rates and when I tried to walk my sats would drop and I felt like I couldn't walk but 2 feet without being out of breathe. I went to rehab and they were concerned about my heart rate so I made app'ts to see my primary doc, my cardiologist and the pulmodude. After talking to my primary gp I asked her if the Paxil I was taking can cause an increase in heart rate and lo and behold she weaned me off of it and I feel so different that I am surprised. I did go to the other doc's to just to have myself checked out further but so far it looks like I had a reaction to the meds. I just thought I'd share this with you in case you have increased any meds or that something that you are taking is causing the heart rate to change. Guest guest
Even the least of meds can cause changes, even supplements. And, yes, even drastic dietary changes. What is interesting is that not only can anti-depressants raise your pressure, sometimes to those of us they don't work right on, anti-anxiety meds can too. For me, Klonopin is a good example. It's prescribed for seizures and panic disorder but also frequently for anxiety. For me, its like putting me on speed. It does the exact opposite of what its designed for. > > Joyce, > Just a lttle info on my part. Guest guest
- no I haven't changed any meds but I am on a small dosage of Paxil and I don't even know why I was put on it. I have never been clinically depressed. When i see my psychiatrist I was going to ask him why I'm taking it and ask him if I can stop taking it. Maybe the paxil has started to affect me? I see my psychiatrist every 3 months for 7 minutes....he just gives me meds. joyce
Guest guest
Joyce, glad to see you back and letting us know you are still kicking. Paxil is good for anxiety too that is why I was on it. I don't trust this drug at all. My primary care Dr. is the one who listened and took me off it. The psychiatrist that I have to see to get this never could grasp what I was telling him. Guest guest
, I am so glad you told me your story because that could very well be the answer and I don't even know why I was put on it...maybe for anxiety but I am not a very anxious person... but that could be the problem. than you so much for sharing the info with me. Guest guest
Hi , How long were you on Paxil? Did you taper off of it? Any withdrawal symptoms or side affects? I've been on Paxil for about 8 years and don't think I need it anymore, but I've been afraid to quit taking due to some of the horror stories I've heard about withdrawal symptoms. Guest guest
Paxil definitely requires a weaning process if you're on a normal dosage. One needs to be careful and follow a weaning schedule but, if thats causing problems, slow the process even more. > > Hi , > How long were you on Paxil? Guest guest
, the withdrawals for me have been scary. I have these dreams that are OCD if that is the right word but the dreams are repeated over and over again. the same dream. like putting something away and away and away....... I also have these funny feelings all day long. It seems like a had a seratonin overload when I was on Paxil that is why the rapid heart rate but weaning off it has been very mind consuming. Guest guest
Also, I might add that the dr. who gave me the paxil upped the dose from 10 mg to 40 mg in a matter of a month and a half.I don't know if that also played a part on my rapid heart rate. To: Breathe-Support Sent: Fri, January 15, 2010 8:26:05 PMSubject: Re: Re: Can our 02 cause bronchitis?/ Beth Hi , How long were you on Paxil?
