Guest guest
So, has anyone here read through the Stop the Thyroid Madness website and figured out the upshot - I just haven't had time to go through the entire thing at the moment though I probably should. Don't think I have a severe case, but there might be some issues that could be helped. Mara
Guest guest
i've read parts many times, so much info - but i think the most important is testing t4, t3 free t4 and free t3 - and somtimes reverse t3 and t4 for accurate results AND not treated hypo at least with a plain t4 - must be a combo of t3 and t4 - i love the list of symptoms-bringing it to endo to say let's do something i have a lot of these and they're so afraid to up my dose due to heart when maybe t3 being low caused the irregular heartbeat???? eileen > > So, has anyone here read through the Stop the Thyroid Madness website and figured > out the upshot - I just haven't had time to go through the entire thing at the moment though > I probably should. Guest guest
Eileen,According to the STTM site and book, if cortisol is low, the T3 won't get into the cells. The body senses the high T3 levels and down regulates the metabolism by converting the T4 into reverse T3. Your body then is in a hypo state even though you are technically providing the T3/T4 it should require. Your adrenals then try to compensate by producing adrenaline (which contributes to heart palps) and further tires your adrenal glands so that they aren't producing enough cortisol. My dr in the UK was very concerned about tissue levels of the hormones, and not blood levels so when he checked my reverse T3, I had to do a 24 urine test (collect all your urine for 24 hours). I also did a 4 sample saliva test for the cortisol, not a one time blood test (though technically blood tests are fine as a test for cortisol, you just need blood drawn 4 times and the last one being at bedtime!).See this specific page at STTM site for more adrenal info and home 'tests' to see if you have a problem. http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/adrenal-info/Oh, and high estrogen (not balanced by enough progesterone) will interfere with thyroid function as well, but it actually interferes with the chemicals being used properly, not the production. Again, this will also tax the adrenals as they struggle to compensate for the low thyroid function and slowly wearing themselves out.AmeliaTo: BTVC-SCD Sent: Sat, October 9, 2010 4:52:37 PMSubject: Re: Stop the thyroid madness i've read parts many times, so much info - but i think the most important is testing t4, t3 free t4 and free t3 - and somtimes reverse t3 and t4 for accurate results AND not treated hypo at least with a plain t4 - must be a combo of t3 and t4 - i love the list of symptoms-bringing it to endo to say let's do something i have a lot of these and they're so afraid to up my dose due to heart when maybe t3 being low caused the irregular heartbeat???? eileen > > So, has anyone here read through the Stop the Thyroid Madness website and figured > out the upshot - I just haven't had time to go through the entire thing at the moment though > I probably should. Guest guest
estrogen and progesterone are ok in me - adrenal are taxed but not insuffient i believe is what was said - I did the useless urine 1 once -and was tempted to do the saliva adrenal but money wise not a great time as we're moving - but I'm sure that's part of my probs- I wil look at my numbers and write later to see what you think thanks eileen > > > > So, has anyone here read through the Stop the Thyroid Madness website and > >figured > > out the upshot - I just haven't had time to go through the entire thing at the > >moment though > > I probably should.
