I don't remember the name of my " condition " at the moment - but I can always tell you more about it. It is quite strange sitting here, just writing this email to people I don't know and in this forum, which exist just for me to talk to other people with facial assymetry...! Well, I hope my english is good enough for you to understand, and I hope I'll figure out how to use this group in the future. Guest guest
I have had 4 surgeries on a little over a year....the first surgeon messed up the 1st surgery(July 30 2004) so 2 weeks later I had #2...then Jan 2005 #3 found that the plates were broken due to griniding my teeth at night and bones not healing properly 2 weeks ago #4 surgery and new surgeon again plates broken, this time I am wired shut for 6 wks... Guest guest
Hi Jill, That sounds quite awful!! I hope it will work out this time... Are you in a lot of pain? I have also had my teeth wired together, but that's like 10 years ago.. I hope you are still positive and happy even though it is awful! Take care, > Hi.. > > Well, I'm new to this site. Guest guest
Bob, Wow we def have things in common..I guess I just say, do what you have to do you have came this far..I just had #4 and one of the bone plates are bent up on the side of my nose and eye..tthis new surgeon tried bending it down, but not much success..it really bothers me...I had it to happen alos after surgery #3 but it wasnt as big or noticeable..I go back tommorrow for my 2nd week preop and afraid he will want to fix it..I went from being very attractive or I was told, to looking worse..I think this time I will look better than the last surgeries..I will prob have to get lip augmentation to make my lips bigger, they are very small now..still hard to smile...how did you relapse? thye say that I grinded my teeth at night and broke th plates into, so the screw were just sitting in the bone..however the first surgeon made a mistake and that why surgeon 1 had to be redone...you would of thought the first surgeon would have wired me shut to begin with, he knew I was a grinder...I really didnt know much about all this until I started having problem,s and found this site after this last surgery..if I did I would have NEVER had it done...so How did you relapse exactly Jill bobrobz wrote: Hi Jill How do you deal with having to go thru 4 surgerys in a year,.....I am facing a 3rd surgery , 1st one was Mar.8,....2nd one May 23,both relapsed and it's turning me into a basket case.... Guest guest
Bob - I'm sorry to hear that you have had two relapses. I'm sure you have shared the specifics many times already, but I'm wondering if the cause of the relapses have ever been addressed. Maybe if your surgeon knows what went wrong, he can prevent it from happening again. I'm sorry that you have to go thru all this again: it's bad enough the first time (so I've been told). I'm pre-op for a BSSO set- back and LeFort 1-piece to correct my underbite, and will be having my surgery next June. Take care of yourself and the best of luck to you. ~~~~ Diane (Idaho) > > Hi.. > > > > Well, I'm new to this site. Guest guest
Hi Jill Oh my God , and I thought I had problems !!.....Can they leave the bent plate in there like that?.... I pray you have a good appt tommorrow, and they don't have to subject you to anymore torture!! .....4 surgerys in that time frame , your poor face probably has'nt had time to recover in between surgerys...being wired sucks, and I feel for ya.... They are saying they don't know why I relapsed , thats what freaks me out ... I should be hearing from the surgeon next week hopefully, they took more measurments and moulds last week for him to go over ?? It sounds like its your top jaw ,I'm assuming....with me they were trying to move my lower jaw back 5 mm.... .....I think I saw in one of your posts, that your are a nurse , both my daughters are nurses ,and one is a Jill also ... Good luck at your appt. tommorrow, let us know how it went? take care of yourself Bob > > Hi.. > > > > Well, I'm new to this site.
