Guest guest
Hi Sandy, Good luck to you in your surgery. What are you having done? I can just imagine all of the emotions you must be going through. Driving home tonight, it was a beautiful fall evening and I thought to myself - four weeks and I'll be beginning my recovery. I can't wait until I say I'm four weeks post-op! Please keep us posted pre- and post-op. Guest guest
Myself and my June surgery buddies used to record our surgery dates on the group calendar that is available on this website. It's located on the left hand side menu underneath Photos, Links, Database, Members...and then calendar. It's a good way of keeping track of surgery dates for all months. Just a thought. Guest guest
Hi Diane, Yeah, it's sinking in that it is only 13 days away. I try not to think about it too much, because then I get anxiety. Have a lot going on to keep my mind off of it. Both kids play College Soccer so we've been on the road a lot watching their games, plus work, playing soccer and volleyball myself (which I will definitely miss terribly) and helping to coach our HS Volleyball team. My diagnosis was Maxillary Hypoplasia and Mandibular Deficiency They will be moving the Maxilla forward, Mandibular advancement and chin implant. This will hopefully eliminate or help my obstructed sleep apnea. Can't wait to be on the other side and healing. Guest guest
Thanks Sandy, I'm getting the surgical wires and hooks put on Monday, so will let you know how that goes. Any advice from anyone about what to take to the hospital? I have been told I'll probably be there 3-4 nights. I was planning to take some books to read - but did anyone actually feel like reading or do you just sleep the whole time? Also, can you talk at all after the surgery, or do you have to rely on the nurses to know what you want/how you're feeling? Anyone who had genio - I think they put a big bit of tape on your chin afterwards, is that right? My skin is very sensitive and I'm worried I'll end up with a big red mark there for ages afterwards. I've also been told the swelling on the chin takes longer to go down?? I've been pretending this wasn't happening, but now it's less than a week and I have a million questions! I have blender and juicer at the ready at home! At 01:19 PM 21/10/2005, you wrote: >Best of Luck Sam. Keep us posted if you can. Guest guest
I took: *several pyjama's and night dresses that were button up so I didn't have to pull anything over my head and face. *face cloths, *wet wipes, * pen, paper, *post-sick notes, * personal cd player (though I didn't use it after my surgery), *slippers, I took a book and a solitaire game but after the surgery (i went in the day before) I didn't/couldn't read or play the game. I spent most of the time sleeping. I couldn't talk for the first 4 days and even then was very hard to understand so I just wrote everything down, but teh nurses were good and knew what I wanted or if tehy didn't they would suggest things. --------------------------------- Yahoo!
