Lizzie,

If it was a hard shell taco, it doesn't surprise me in the least that

you could eat the whole thing. In fact, it would be possible to eat more than

one for many people. If it was a soft shell taco, well, typically people can

eat much less of that. You will be two years out soon... the quantity you

can eat will amaze you at times... and scare the hell out of you, just as you

said. One taco is not the end of the world. The important thing is to focus on

your eating habits as much as you can. Okay, it's hard to order a taco and

NOT eat all of it if it will all FIT into your pouch... some people find that

they have to throw away the portion they DECIDE they are not going to eat even

before they start eating the portion they ARE going to have. For example,

some people will scrape out the inside of the taco and then walk the shell over

to the trash can so that they do not sit there and pick at it until it is gone.

Of course, it takes a lot to make yourself throw away food after all the

years we spent never " wasting " food.

I don't think one taco is the sign of staple line disruption (which I

assume is your fear?) -- it's part of the normal progression of the maturing

surgery.

A whole taco at taco bell is fine at 2 years, IMHO. You may find your

capacity may gradually increase. At almost 6 years, I can eat a couple.

Please don't be scared !!!!

Hi Lizzie,

I have been able to eat 3/4 to 1 whole soft taco since I was about a year out.

Now that I am not doing tortillas (carbs...) I can eat the filling of two soft

tacos (just about). I am 4 years out.

Today at work (Taco Bell) I had one whole Taco Supreme (hard shell) and it

went down with no problems (just took me 20 minutes to eat it) 9.5 hours

later, I tried to eat a soft taco supreme, and I could only eat half of

it--I just can't do tortillas and I'm 18 months out.

Lizzie, one taco should be fine, the only thing I am changing for myself is

that when I eat a taco at Del Taco (hard shell), I'm going to take the insides

out and just eat it as a salad. I wouldn't worry about eating a whole taco....

I am almost 2 yrs out. The amount I eat varies from day to day and sometimes

even meal to meal. It depends on the food and its density, or lack thereof.

For instance, here locally we have a restaurant called Taco Villa. You can get

a bean burrito there, which the toritillas are rather thin, but larger than Taco

Smell, oops Taco Bell. I was able to eat a whole bean burrito in 15 minutes.

Then, the next day, we made them at home with taco meat, I could only eat

half of it, and it was smaller than the bean burrito. So, meat, denser, beans,

mushy. Dense food = less eaten, Mushy food = more eaten. This applies to

me. If you are able to eat anything in larger quantites, consistently, I'd say

it

was time to consult your doctor about whether you are having a mechanical

problem. Otherwise, I wouldn't worry. At this stage you are supposed to be

able to eat more. (At least that is what I was told.)

One other thing, I have also noticed that one day I can eat a whole lot of

stuff

then the next I'll get stuffed very quickly. I don't know what the correlation

is,

but I wish I could figure out what I am doing different to feel more full and

keep

doing it, who knows....anyone?
