Guest guest
I finally started having my two thyroid strengths compounded and as always, am using Avicel which is a cellulose type. I have to say, I have NOT noticed it being any less effective. I never heard that it was time-release, though, if that makes any difference. on the stopthethyroidmadness website - it specifies that des thyroid doesn't do well with cellulose has anyone found an scd compounded time-release desiccated thyroid without cellulose - 2 comp pharmacies so far said they never saw studies showing this and have to use cellulose as it's the only time release scd compliant they have - using acidophilus or vit c wouldn't make it time release -or do you all take them thruout the day instead of time-release??? thanks eileen

Guest guest
I should have added that I take my thyroids twice a day. I take both T4, which is the compounded natural one, and T3, which is apparently only available in synthetic. I take 90mg T4 about 8:30-9:00 AM, and 60mg at about 2:30-3:00 PM, and 5mcg of Cytomel, the T3, with each of those. When I was on a lot less, I just took it all in the morning but I think a second dose helps now. But don't take it TOO late or it might keep you awake. thanks mary eileen > > I finally started having my two thyroid strengths compounded and as > always, am using Avicel which is a cellulose type. Guest guest
thanks - i'm a lil confused - my t3 is compounded, what does synthethic mean???? i also have an ok tsh and t4 - my problem is converting t4 to t3 so i'm guessing i'd be a lot of t3 lil t4?? i see doc sunday to discuss - but i will mention taking separate doses instead of time-release and see what he thinks - why separeate doses for you if it's the time-release cellulose one?? thanks eileen > > > > I finally started having my two thyroid strengths compounded and as > > always, am using Avicel which is a cellulose type. Guest guest
I also have trouble converting T4 to T3. My doctor switched me from Synthroid to Armour Thyroid (natural from pig thyroid-what was used until Synthroid was invented) and it works great. He told me that a few people just can't convert the Synthroid. I was fine on Synthroid for about 12 years. I hope this helps. > > > > > > I finally started having my two thyroid strengths compounded and as > > > always, am using Avicel which is a cellulose type. Guest guest
Synthetic T3, like any other drug from Big Pharma, means it's made in the lab and not from natural things, which natural thyroid is (made of animal thyroid). It sounds like your problem is the conversion and you will need T3 but maybe that's all. I think I confused you, I have two strengths of T4 compounded as I take more in the morning. My T3 (Cytomel) is a regular prescription from any old drugstore. There doesn't seem to be a natural one. No, my thyroids are NOT time release. That's why I take them twice a day. My doctor is very much against time-release meds though I can't quite remember why. I can ask him next week, though, as I have an appointment. I suppose it's possible the Avicel dissolves slowly but I never heard that. thanks - i'm a lil confused - my t3 is compounded, what does synthethic mean???? i also have an ok tsh and t4 - my problem is converting t4 to t3 so i'm guessing i'd be a lot of t3 lil t4?? i see doc sunday to discuss - but i will mention taking separate doses instead of time-release and see what he thinks - why separeate doses for you if it's the time-release cellulose one?? thanks eileen
Guest guest
all have been checked and i have to take megadoses of selenium daily but that gets my level up on bloodwork but doesn't help the conversion as i had hoped :-( thanks eileen > > > > > > I finally started having my two thyroid strengths compounded and as > > > always, am using Avicel which is a cellulose type. Guest guest
thanks - hope it works for me too!! eileen > > > > > > > > I finally started having my two thyroid strengths compounded and as > > > > always, am using Avicel which is a cellulose type. Guest guest
i think i was compounded t3 only 27.5mg and it wasn't doing anything so i weaned off and now that it still showed low docs said let's take it again but it's so low now 7.5mg - but if 27.5 did nothing i'm guessing the " grains " they speak of on " stop the thyroid madness " website equate to a lot more?? thanks eileen so armour is t4 and t3 but from animal?? > > Synthetic T3, like any other drug from Big Pharma, means it's made in > the lab and not from natural things, which natural thyroid is (made > of animal thyroid). Right. It's derived from pig thyroid, specifically. One grain of Armour contains 38 mcg (definitely not mg -- 1 mcg is one-one-millionth of a gram, or one-one-thousandth of 1 mg) of T4 and 9 mcg of T3. 27.5 mcg of T3 sounds like quite a lot, since you would presumably be taking some T4 as well, but I don't know your thyroid situation. Guest guest
i don't recall reverse t3 being a problem - doc just emailed said that the way I was planning on asking endo to do it is not appropriate and potentially dangerous (the way the sttm webssite said to) so how do yo all take and increase etc your armour?? thanks eileen > > > > > > > > I finally started having my two thyroid strengths compounded and as > > > > always, am using Avicel which is a cellulose type. Guest guest
Yes, grains are bigger. 1 grain + almost 65 mg. i think i was compounded t3 only 27.5mg and it wasn't doing anything so i weaned off and now that it still showed low docs said let's take it again but it's so low now 7.5mg - but if 27.5 did nothing i'm guessing the " grains " they speak of on " stop the thyroid madness " website equate to a lot more?? thanks eileen
