Guest guest
Sherri, we have several docs in FL that are experienced in doing revisions. Several of them I would trust. They are not as well known as Dr. O so I have no idea if they are in any way comparable in true talent. As far as wls becoming a standard - I think not. BC/BS has announced they are excluding it as of 2005, insurance history has shown that the other insurance carriers will follow suit. Another issue is many policies are now working on an exclusion that states that cosmetic surgery after wls is excluded AS ARE COMPLICATIONS THAT ARISE OUT OF SAID PLASTIC SURGERY. I am frightened for those with our disease who have not had wls, I am frightened for our future if we require a revision. I am angry that now that it has been determined to be a disease that it can be excluded. There are thousands of folks on the ossg lists and someone needs to rally these folks and begin a grassroots effort to shoot BC/BS and others in the foot and get this rescinded. Amber/FLRN re: revisions by other docs that is so kind of you to host others when Dr. Oh does their surgeries. You not only saved them major dollars, but also a good sense of relief because of the sweet care I know that you would give them. I had my surgery in Memphis, 8 hrs away, and I have just learned that my doctor has retired. So I too wondered what I would do if anything ever happened that I needed a revision etc. There is no one in Knoxville that does our surgery---well I take that back--one just started doing the surgery and has done a few. But no one has the expertise or background to really do wls here much less a revision. A revision needs to be done by a very very experienced wls surgeon such as Dr. Oh out your way. He is to be commended to take on revisions, as they are not the same thing and are much more complicated. I am so thankful that so many doctors are now really " getting " it that obesity is a disease and it deserves much attention to learn as much as they can about the surgery and about revisions. I recently had to see an internist who knew nothing about wls and blew me off about it. So I now have to look for another internist who knows or will atleast listen or research it. Twenty years from now I bet our surgery will be so old hat to the docs (all kinds of docs), but in the meantime we will have to help them along as patients. There are people on this list who know so much more than a lot of doctors about wls. But thank goodness for medical science and the doctors willing to go the extra mile for us. Atleast we now have a chance of normalcy of life. I wonder--do any of you know of any doctors in the South that are experienced in revisions? And I wonder if insurance would even cover a revision? Any thoughts gang? Guest guest
And love. Don't forget that. And caring, and a non-drugged brain for remembering stuff that the doc says, and rides all over the place, and the excitement of watching day to day operation in the VitaCenter, and a place to plug a computer into your network to access the internet and send email while totally drugged, and first taste of whatever new stuff comes in, and more knowledge and experience than anyone that I know. Oh yeah, and a staple puller. So you don't cook breakfast, big, fat, hairy deal! lol. ---------------------------------------- Terry Mayers 5DollarHosting.com http://www.5dollarhosting.com .... because it shouldn't cost a fortune to make a fortune! re: revisions by other docs that is so kind of you to host others when Dr. Oh does their surgeries. Guest guest
Ray is warming up for Cindy (Sabine). Her surgery was uneventful today and she was resting miserably when I left. Lol Well, you know how it is. But she didn't have any surprises planned for Dr Oh. He looked kinda bored, I thought. LOL! And that is a very good thing. Thanks, Vitalady, Inc. And I got to tour Sam's club in a wheel chair and actually saw the mountain several times. But the part about the cats is oh, so true. Wouldn't have healed up without Ray. Give him a kiss for me.
