Guest guest
Liz, You are probably just in a plateau. But, indeed, the weight loss DOES begin to slow after about 6 months to a year, and eventually will stop altogether, depending on what you are eating, how much you are exercising, etc. Once the appetite comes back and you are able to eat a little more, it becomes even more important to take caution when you eat and to maintain regular exercise. I guess in the back of my mind I was hoping against all hope that this was some sort of miracle cure, even though I was told over and over again that this is just a tool, and that real success comes only with vigilance, just like it did pre-op. I am just that hard-headed though, and it has taken pushing the limits to realize this...!! So, onward!! Guest guest
The sad thing was that in November and December I hadn't lost a thing. I feel like I can eat a horse most of the time. I eat my three meals and snack on almonds, or milk or yogurt. I also snack on bad things at times. We all know what I am talking about. I just wanted to get some information from others...and vent that I better now be stuck here! Re: " Chart Weight " > > > I am not in Iowa City, But am in Ames. Not too far! Guest guest
Does anyone know if there is still a support group going on near Iowa City. I read somewhere that there was. My Dr at the hosp. Was really mad that we wanted to start one. I just about flipped my lid when I heard that. I know he has lost his mind if he thinks we are not going to have a support group. I heard that was a MAJOR part of a lot of peoples success. I don't always have a lot of time to email. I don't have a computer at home. Only at work. And working in surgery keeps me busy enough. THOUGHTS? Re: " Chart Weight " > > > I am not in Iowa City, But am in Ames. Not too far! Guest guest
I know that not eating enough can also slow down your weight loss. Maybe you need more protein as we do not absorb all of the protein we consume. Do you do protein shakes? I had never done them but tried them last week ( and the chocolate ones weren't too bad)and am waiting on my order from vitalady. I wanted to make sure I was getting enough protein before I had surgery, and am going to continue afterwards with 1 or 2 a day.I don't if I will ever be able to or want to eat enough that guarantees that I am getting enough for my body to function. Sometime we also just hit a plateau, and we need to give our bodies some time to catch up. At 17.8 you would be considered underweight. At 24.6, where you are now, you are in the upper part of the " normal " range. Was it a machine that you held with your arms outstretched after they entered your height and weight and such? If so, that's what it was... a totally different animal. And, if your body fat percentage is 17 something, that's pretty good!
