On the charts I've seen (and use when I talk about " normal " weight) BMI's between 18.5 and 24.9 are " normal " weights. For your height, that would mean that you could weigh between 105 and 140 pounds and be " normal " ...whatever the hell that means! For them to say that you " need " to lose 25 pounds has no medical basis ... unless at your current weight you still had medical problems that might respond to additional weight loss. BMI does not take into account what makes up our weight -- fat, muscle, skin, etc. So, it actually is possible to be above a normal BMI (by weight) due to excess skin or larger muscle mass and still be pretty dang svelte. BMI is only one tool to assess appropriate body size. It was like I wasn't sitting right in front of the nurse and she couldn't see what I looked like. All she could see was what the computer what spitting out. I just laughed when she said that.
