Guest guest
I've heard of this before, but it's not common. Sometimes surgeons have close proximity to hospitals and can transfer patients quickly if there are any complications. If you're not comfortable, you might ask about this. I've also heard of people who have had this sort of thing done on an outpatient basis, which is what you're describing, but most of us stay in the hospital at least one night per jaw (for my surgeon, two nights if two jaws). My followup with the surgeon was exactly one week later at his office. There wasn't any contact that first week, although I could have called him at any time if necessary. You might ask to speak with some of his patients to see how they felt about being sent home the same day. Hope that helps, > > > My os does lower only in his office surgical suite with a > ansteiologist who is also there. i have met 2 of his patients > he is very nice and i feel comfortable with him just curious > if anyone else has had lower only in a in office surgical > suite. Guest guest
My OMS does one jaws in his office surgical suite. My Leforte I 3 piece was on 10/20. I went in at 7:30am and was home by 3:00pm. My first follow up with him was the next afternoon, and then at one week (last Thursday)as well as my first OD appt. So far, everything seems to be going well. I have a splint, which is this plastic piece thingie that covers my upper teeth and extends onto the roof of my mouth. I wear rubber bands that attach my lower and upper jaws when I sleep, but can take them out during the day. I go back to my OMS in 5 weeks for the splint removal if all goes well in the meantime. I would welcome any questions about the surgical experience, if you have them. Nay Leforte I 10/20. > > > My os does lower only in his office surgical suite with a > ansteiologist who is also there. i have met 2 of his patients > he is very nice and i feel comfortable with him just curious > if anyone else has had lower only in a in office surgical > suite. Guest guest
Thanks Nay For your response. Is your splint the kind that is called a wafer splint and it covers your upper pallate. Ive read there are those kind and then the kind that dont cover your pallate Since you had just upper jaw did you have 2 tubes down your nose or 1 and can you talk with the splint in at all and are you getting use to it??? Guest guest
My splint does cover my teeth and has an arch onto my upper palate, it is about as wide as a fingernail. The bottom of the splint has a ridge where my bottom teeth are supposed to rest (to train my mouth to my new bite). My husband is going to try to upload my pictures to the board today, and I will try to have him take a picture if we can figure out how. I was out before any tube went in at all, but I know that they did pump my stomcach free of blood etc.(my throat was quite sore just post surgery) I did not throw up at all, but they gave me this cool new patch for nausea that looked like a bandaid that was put behind my ear and it stayed on for a few days. I can talk better with my bands out rather than in, so I am very glad that, so far, I do not have to wear them during the day. I am getting used to the splint, but I have to speek slowly (definately not normal for me ) and the sound of my voice has changed. I guess it makes sense with the swelling and the way that my mouth moves is very different right now, it was just completely unexpected. Thanks for the good wishes! Again, if there are any questions I can answer, I would be more than happy to! Nay Leforte I 10/20 > > > Thanks Nay > > > For your response.
