Guest guest
Yep! Inflammation in the body from wrong foods. One by one my friends are having their children diagnosed with gluten intolerance...it is a gut epidemic and so many people think of it as just an allergy rather than a symptom of something much larger! > > A lady at the jewelry store told me about a woman whose finger joint was swollen and she came in to get her ring re-sized. Guest guest
My good friend came down with a wicked case of fibromyalgia after she had her first baby. The docs were throwing all kinds of meds at her. Turned out it was a gluten-intolerance!!! -Joanna > > Yep! Inflammation in the body from wrong foods. Guest guest
I had knuckle swelling even as a child. And amen and amen to the fact that so much of the world has these symptoms ... but I've gotten quieter and quieter about it 'cause most folks don't want to hear it... especially family! They MAY - or they may NOT get interested before they die... and that's da truth!!! Guest guest
After my 3rd child was born I developed Psoriatic Arthritis - severe pain and swelling in every joint in my body. I chose to do food allergy testing instead of taking the horrible medications they wanted to give me (methotrexate and plaquinil) and it turned out that I was reacting to gluten, dairy, soy and eggs. I've been gluten free and soy free ever since, avoided dairy and eggs for 10 years and can eat small amounts of dairy and unlimited eggs now. All joint pain went away and hasn't come back. Guest guest
One of my aunt's good friends died last year from cancer. She had been sick (not from cancer) for a long time. Many years. Before she died she was told she was allergic to wheat and that if that would have been found out a long time ago she wouldn't have been facing death. So sad. Guest guest
The more I read, the more I become convinced that grains, and wheat in particular, are not really good for anyone. Of course, us especially. This sort of story is really really sad, that poor woman. One of my aunt's good friends died last year from cancer. She had been sick (not from cancer) for a long time. Guest guest
I can agree with " for us, " at least right now, but can't agree with " for anyone. " It's just empirically false. Most people eat grains and never get any IBD. You can argue that a lot of them have other, possibly grain-related, problems, but consider the research of Weston Price, who, in his travels in the 1930s, found many isolated groups around the world in consistently excellent health. A number of them had grains as a big part of their diet. One point Price made was that poor nutrition (in particular, diets based on processed foods) dramatically worsened the health of the next generation. Iterate this over several generations, with modern medicine to prop them up as it tears them down, and you get a lot of living people in truly awful states of health: low-functioning autism, for instance, in which both the mind and the body are crippled in large part by a poorly functioning digestive system. If I cannot tolerate a food that has fed large numbers of healthy people throughout history, as is the case, I should look for the problem in my health, not in the food. That's what I'm doing with the SCD, and I don't intend to stop looking and stop healing myself until I can eat all foods once again. If what I am doing cannot complete that healing (and the SCD, I am certain, still has plenty of healing power to show me) I will keep looking. > > The more I read, the more I become convinced that grains, and wheat > in particular, are not really good for anyone. Guest guest
That's interesting, . I am a big WAPF chick, but I am reading more and more negative press on grains. The whole paleo movement, Dr. Mercola...it will be interesting to see where it goes in the next few years. I gotta say, I don't really miss grains. But I sure could go for a sweet potato! > > > > The more I read, the more I become convinced that grains, and wheat > > in particular, are not really good for anyone. Of course, us > > especially. Guest guest
Y'all are probably aware that Price... and I'm really not up on all this... Is it still called the Price-POTTENGER Foundation? A lot of folks may not be aware of the seminal study done in the 40s and 50s called " Pottenger's Cats " in which generation upon generation of cats were fed sub-optimal diets. The progeny got sicker and sicker, more misshapen and more misshapen. When Pottenger intervened with optimal nutrition for the felines it took SEVERAL generations for the cats to regain good health and form. HIS take-away, 60 yrs. ago!: The American diet was getting worse and worse and it looked like we were headed the way of his cats! http://www.ppnf.org/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=228 and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francis_M._Pottenger,_Jr. Blessings, Artful Carol > > That's interesting, .
