Guest guest
Hi, I'm five months post-op and my mouth opening is only 17mm. I had physio after my surgery for my hip (due to the bone graft), and I also saw a speech therapist as I had some swallowing issues. cdmorris8675309 <no_reply > wrote: Hi, I am 14 days post op from a lower jaw advancement. I had my follow up with the surgeon yesterday. Undortunately my openning was only 20 mm (it had to be at least 30 to get the splint out). So I am stuck with it for 2 more weeks. I only have minimal swelling now and only have to wear the bands at night though, PROGRESS AT LAST! I can now honestly say that I am glad I went through this, my jaw profile looks awesome! I went back to work today, everything went great (minor teasing over my lisp). However I am still totally numb from the lip down to my chin. My surgeon sent me to pysiotherapy for the next 4 weeks, anyone else need to go to pysio? Thanks to all that post - All the posts on this board are wonderful and keep spirits up. Guest guest
Hi, I went to physical therapy after several of my surgeries to regain my jaw mobility. It helped a lot. My therapist and I would joke about how my insurance was paying for me to get facials three times a week. She would massage my face and neck, use ultrasound to warm up the muscles and at the end, wrap hot packs around my face. That felt good but she also tortured me plenty by stretching and prying my jaws apart. Ouch but it was worth it. Now my opening is 17-20 mm depending on how tense my muscles are. > Hi, > I am 14 days post op from a lower jaw advancement. I had my follow up > with the surgeon yesterday.
