Guest guest
Hello all, I am worried I am taking too much Vitamin E. I am proximal and am currently taking 2 capsules per day at 400IU each. Is this too much since I am proximal? I don't want to overdue it since it can be dangerous, but I also want to get the benefits. Thanks so much for the advice. Guest guest
Hi Diane, Hope someone responds to this, I didn't realize there was a toxic level to Vit E - heck I take 3 400IU each day and I'm a proxy. I'm not recommending you do the same, but I thought when I post the question that someone suggested no more than 3 x at 400iu. I did it to help with hot flash hell and it has helped me quite a bit, but I also really jumped up my calcium too, so who knows. Guest guest
Your lab tests can give you a better answer than any of us can. Vitamin E is a fat soluble vitamin. This does not mean that it comes from fatty foods, but rather that the body stores in a fat molecule until it needs it. Proximal patients are much less prone to develop a vitamin E deficiency that are distal or BPD/DS patients. I personally would feel comfortable with a supplementation of 60 iu a day, which is twice the FDA RDI.
