Steve, Woa...what a decision to

have to make under those conditions.

Your perfect match is out there. Patience obviously is needed now.

Steve,

You're right. Not quite 'Sophies choice' but a dilemma nonetheless. I'm glad the transplant folks were able to talk it through with you and you are comfortable with the decision. I think I probably would have ended up deciding the same way especially since you don't get penalized in any way for turning down this particular opportunity.

I'm sure getting that call brought the reality of the whole thing home in a new way. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers every day and I'm following your adventure on Caring Bridge also!

I'm glad to see those choices being offered. I know its a difficult

decision but I do believe it's one the patient should be offered and

should have the right to make. In the past there have been lungs not

used, which while not perfect, might have saved a life. I have one

friend who got a lung that probably wouldn't have been given to her at

another location. She's alive and well and she didn't have time to wait

longer. As healthy as Steve still is, I do fully understand waiting.

It's just some of the changes working well. Just don't second guess your

choice Steve. Be happy that you were able to fully discuss it with

experts who recognized all sides and you would appear to be in good

position for one before too long.

glad you got the call, sorry it was the wrong call

I have heard about people who actually go to the transplant center, get prepped and then the docs tell them that the organ is not appropriate

the next one will be a better match

I am on it but I don't have high speed internet so I can't do anything on it. I'm not sorry about that because I know some addicts that are on it all of the time. Without high speed it is too slow and it ties up my phone. I also live in an area where I can't get cell phone service. Steve...you showed great 'presence of mind' in making such a touch call! When rejection is the main problem facing transplant recipients you'd have to feel secure that the lung was right for you!

Here's hoping another call will come soon with a great match up that causes you to say..Hey lets GO!
