Kathy... what a bad time of the year to have to go through a move and so soon! I'm truly sorry to hear this news.

Seems like good things are so much better at Christmas time and bad things are so much worse...

Hopefully you will be back in a place of your own sooner than later.

I'm praying God will bless you and yours, now matter what!

Hugs from Mama Sher.

I'M STILL TRYING TO GET MY SIGNATURE IN MY MAIL.

Hi all,Stress levels in the house are at an all-time high right now, and I just need some good thoughts. We lost out house due to unforeseen circumstances (damn disease!) and have to be out by the 30th of Dec. Merry Christmas/Happy New Year! We ae hoping to extend it till Jan. 4th-but who knows. Eventually, we will all be in Harlan, Iowa, but for the near future, my SIL and I will be staying with my son in Persia, Ia, my daughter and her 2 kids and my husband will be getting an apartment here-damn the daughters' ex-husband. Can you tell I'm not a happy camper right now. Amazingly, through all this, the prednisone seems to be working and I'm not coughing as much. Do have a pulmodude appt on Monday with PFT's so, I'll at least know about that.Anyone know of a good pulmo in Council Bluffs/Omaha area?Sorry for ranting on so long-just needed an outlet to vent.KathyIPF 10/09 Type 2 diabetes forever ago

Thanks for the good thoughts. It may actually be a blessing in disguise b/c there was mold in the house and water damage also from when we had our addition put on. so...Kathy IPF 10/09 Type 2 diabetes forever agoSubject: Re: Good thoughts neededTo: Breathe-Support Date: Friday, December 11, 2009, 12:31 PM

Kathy,

That is the way to think about it. My youngest had a breakin two days

ago-tvs, christmas presents, camera, camcorder, just awful, but it was

only things she keeps saying....Maybe this is Gods way of getting you

out of that house. We have to try to look for the positive, I know

sweet Lord how hard that can be. When you lose your house, or your job

or someone or something that is sooo close to you sometime the only way

you can keep going is one hour at a time but I firmly belive the dear

Lord watches over us and while we may not get what we are praying for,

we do get what we need. I always say the dear Lord is trying to teach

me patience with all this health crap and its my fault for not listening

LOL After my divorce I headed home to Wisconsin with everything I owned

in a Toyota Tercel (put that image in your mind, it was smaller than a

Prius) my 16 year old daughter and $800. No job and only an offer from

my sister to stay in her basement. Did I want too? No but I just did

it and even though it took a couple years, things ended up for the

better and I met my wonderful second husband and I spent a lot more time

with my mom who passed away from IPF 4 years after I moved home. I hope

you get my intent from all this rambling. Keep us informed and know we

all love you.

Kathy,

Actually I loved it there. However my aunt nancy was the heart lung transplant coordinator there for over 15years (worked at UCLA 35) so everyone was so nice and accomedating to me I have nothing but nice things to say about them so far. I am sorry that you did not get the same feeling when you were here. I saw doctor bowers and he was a jackass he got my biopsy results back which showed UIP as well as significant inflammation and the pathologist said right in the report that this could be a connective tissue problem and without any further testing or anything Dr. Bowers called it idiopathic IPF/UIP told me I had 2-5years and wanted to start me on 6different meds i said no thanks and came out here and I am glad i did. The doctors out here said forget everything he said and explained why did lots of testing and have come to the conclusion that i have scleroderma and that is what is causing my lung disease which I feel is much better.

Maybe I am fooling myself but I feel like I can fight this and I am obsessive so I like to have a label for everything LOL. Are you a nurse? I am for 10years now I work neonatal intensive care and labor and delivery and I LOVE IT. Tammy 35y.o. Omaha, NE UIP 11/09

Tammy,

You are absolutely right to feel much better about your new diagnosis. Now you've got something to treat...something specific to control that will in turn slow down the progress of your lung disease.

This is exactly how I felt when my dermatomyositis was finally diagnosed a year or so ago. It was a tremendous relief to be able to understand where my lung disease came from and the diagnosis gave me new weapons in my arsenal.

Good luck to you...keep fighting!!

Tammy, Thank you very much for the dr. name. I needed that. How do you like the docs at UCLA?I saw Dr. Zisman for 2 yrs., and when he left, I sort of felt like I was just a disease and not a person. Just my opinion.Kathy

Do have a pulmodude appt on Monday with PFT's so, I'll at least know about that.Anyone know of a good pulmo in Council Bluffs/Omaha area?Sorry for ranting on so long-just needed an outlet to vent.KathyIPF 10/09 Type 2

interesting, the first pulmonary at Penn left after a few months,

to go into private practice, some of his patients were going to follow him

i was upset, since i did not want to start over with a new pulmonary

i even thought about following him to the new location

he suggested that it would be better for me to stay at penn, the new pulmonary there has access to all of my records and works with the transplant team too

so it all worked out for me

Tammy,I loved it when Dr. Zisman was there. He is the one that gave me the diagnosis of ILD/hyersensitivity pneumonitis, and started me on Cellcept and thalidomide. After he left, I saw Dr. Lynch, who took me off thalidomide b/c he said there was no data that thalidomide worked for ILD. He was a data guy, not a people guy. He also knew I was a nurse, and didn't give that any credence. We are looking to rent a house somewhere between Persia Ia, and Omaha until we figure out where we actually want to live. Fun times. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.Kathy
